I really don't want to do this after a very good win tonight and a good run of form but does anyone else feel it is time to drop Lockyer from the right back spot?
I think he is a very good young footballer and seems a great young man as well but he looks so clumsy at times playing RB. He is a centre back/defensive midfielder. Leadbitter looked very good against Lincoln and I would be inclined to give him a few games.

Cant disagree, fair play to him slotting in there but it could be detrimental to his long term development, his passing is wayward at times needs working on, if that improved it would help.

He's solid defensively but he's no full back.

His distribution is truly awful. If someone could teach him to pass he would be a very good player.

i think toms been pretty consistent but hes not a natural right back so at times gets caught out,i think leadbitter will be involved though as hes a better choice in a 3-5-2 formation and hes putting lockyears place under pressure in a 4-4-2,suddenly players have to work very hard to stay in the team!

Is there a better time to learn as a young pro other than when the team is doing well? If we continue this form he can afford a few mistakes. Unlike the previous 5 seasons where if a player makes a mistake it would turn out to be very costly-hardly ideal for the yoof. Rotating the lads will naturally happen and with this Turley situation developing, we have good competition for places.

I think he's had worse games, but frankly I'm surprised he wasn't rested tonight in favour of Leadbitter. Nuneaton obviously played quite a direct style, and Leadbitter would have had a field day down the right hand side.
Woking may be a different proposition completely, and Lockyer's defensive capabilities may be needed a bit more.

His distribution is very poor and I felt Gosling covered back very well to help him out on a number of occasions tonight when he came under pressure, unlike the end of last season when he was put out to dry by his right sided defensive midfielders.

His distribution is truly awful. If someone could teach him to pass he would be a very good player. Agree with this but often this is because he tries so many first -time passes/wallops - he could easily have taken another touch about 10 times tonight, To be honest though Parkes and Trotman do this way too much as well. Heading is also embarrassing at times - How many times tonight could they have cushioned a header to a team mate but no they just head for distance. Sorry for that moan. on the plus side we finally created a lot of chances tonight and really should have had 5 or 6. felt a bit sorry for Cunnington - I bet he thinks he should have had a couple !!

His distrubution is dire, I agree. He is a class defender for his age, and rarely got beat though, so idk if I'd drop him.

He has done well defensively to fill in at right back, but his passing is shocking. I lost count tonight how many of his passes went astray. He had the chance on numerous occasions to play a short, easy ball inside to either Mansell or Sinclair but he chooses to hit the channel and 9 times out of 10 he loses possession for us.
Even more puzzling why let him take the deep free kicks, virtually every one of them were wasted, Are you watching this DC ? Change it, please it is not working.

Poor old Tom, has played his heart out in sh** teams for the last few years, now he's being asked to play out of position or not at all. Worth remembering this lad is 20 and gives everything and plays where he's told no matter what the circumstances. I think he deserves a little slack from us.

Leadbitter is not capable of playing in a back 4, simple as that.

At 20. He never complains and rarely gets into mischief. Model pro imo.

A great TEAM player.
Top lad.
Fail to see what he has ever done wrong.
This is the first season he will have found himself with passing options! No wonder he hoofs it, hes not used to having any other outlet.

I feel this is a little harsh on Tom.
Leadbitter has had one decent game (Lincoln) out of 10... Lockyer has been pretty solid in almost every game this year.
We won. He will learn. Roll on the next game! UTG!

I thought last night was a better game for Lockyer. Okay his distribution wasn't great but he was defensively solid. Never looked like getting beat. Another thing I'll mention is that further up the pitch his distribution isn't that bad, he's got a half decent cross on him too, it's just mainly when he's passing from the back. I, like others have mentioned, had no idea why he was on deep set pieces though.
One thing I will say is that we should remember that defenders are there primarily to defend. Parkes and Trotman are playing well but are we strong enough to leave them on an island with Brown and Lockyer bombing on? Not sure. I'm quite happy Lockyer is getting games, right now he wouldn't start CM or CB, which would be tough for our best young prospect at the club. He will continue development playing games.

Lockyer wasn't great last night. His distribution isn't great and gets beat in the air too easily at times. A useful squad player though as he is very versatile and you can't knock his commitment, he is still only 19! Yes 19 @the Equaliser and gashead79

the other thing i like about tom lockyer is hes a "winner" a bit of a vague term but meaning i think a player that wants to win just a bit more than most do like roy keane was at a higher level
