It was at the training ground Beadle did it. Ollie threw him out.
Came in and bragged about how much he was getting at City, what the facilities were like compared to us and that if Roberts was at city he would be definitely be on more money.
This was also after City tried to sign Jamie Cureton.
It was true that after this, both heads were turned and they stopped playing to their potential. Roberts also knew WBA would come in for him owed to Cyril Regis being his uncle. We all know what a legend he is there

Never mind all a long time ago now! All water under the bridge. On recent form probably prefer Beadle to Ollie nowadays anyhow! QPR to win... pfft! đŸ˜œ

We all know what a legend he is there Do you honestly believe that these players would not have known that the wages and facilities were better at City. Do you not think they would have spoken to players at bigger clubs. As you say Roberts uncle was Cyril Regis I am sure that had more influence on him moving on than anything Beadle could have said. Dislike/hate the guy if you like, but don't try and tell me a player who was not even playing for us at the time was responsible for our failure.

Rather than getting upset with people on here, why not read what Holloway said about the incident, several years later in his book. As I recall, Beadle had no reason to be at Hambrook and was in the dressing room talking to Roberts and Cureton, acting Billy big Bollocks. OK, there were other influences that turned heads, including (the late and great) Cyrille Regis, but earlier that season Roberts and Cureton were tearing the division a new one and it all fell apart soon after the infamous intervention of Beadle.

I'm sure we were training at Frys then, we sold Hambrook in the late 80's
Just saying, however I think there is some merit in this book otherwise Ollie could have been taken to court for Slander' or defamation of character or something like that.

Probably right. I think Ollie just referred to the ‘training ground’

Why do I have to read Holloways book to disagree that Peter Beadle was responsible for us not going up in 2001. I don't doubt the incident happened ,but its a poor excuse for missing out on promotion. Finally I am not upset with anybody on here, but thanks for your concern.

I know exactly why we didn't go up a former centre half told me Yep, we weren't good enough over 46 games. But if you want to believe the conspiracy theorists, we couldn't afford to.

I know exactly why we didn't go up a former centre half told me Is that the same centre half who allegedly had to be held back from decking one of the accused?
