Paul Randall signed from Frome Town, Dave Pritchard signed from Telford, Harry Bamford joined us from a district league side, Peter Hooper signed from Dawlish Town, Bobby Jones came from Soundwell. Numerous other examples I'm sure. Wow,saw them all at Eastville.Among the best was Ian Hamilton.Genius.Still comes to matches I'm told. Attachments:

Am missing something but what relevance is signing players decades ago got to do with getting players in next month or, like the Mem, are we now trapped in a time warp?

No relevance whatsoever, just pointing out the best players in our clubs history have been signed from non-league or were relatively unknown.

At a time when that was by far the way all clubs did things.

At a time when that was by far the way all clubs did things. Fair point. But look at some of the other players impressing up and down the leagues and their history - Jamie Vardy, Charlie Austin, Craig Dawson, Chris Smalling, Ashley Barnes, Dwight Gayle, Michail Antonio, Albert Adomah, Gary Hooper, Jarrod Bowen, Jordan Hugill, Erhun Oztumer, Marcus Maddison, Ricky Holmes, Yannick Bolasie, Andre Gray, Sam Clucas, Ashley Williams, George Boyd etc etc. I would never dismiss a player or right them off just because of where they have come from. Loads of players slip through the net.

Can anybody name a Rovers manager that's had a successful team, but then had to rebuild it and then be even more successful? I cant but I've only been supporting for 36 years. No but do you think DC might be on gardening leave? No, do you?

At a time when that was by far the way all clubs did things. I guess that's a double edged sword though. You could argue that with more and more clubs bringing on thier own kids that there is less competition for signatures. Maybe going back to signing unknowns could be a positive. I say going back, but in our case we've never moved on.

Every player starts as unknown from somewhere; unfortunately, BRFC currently seem unable to retain any young local talent and / or grow a pair and give local talent a chance. It worked for Gerry during his first spell as manager and could just as easy work again.

Just watched DC's latest post match video from the Walsall game and was very glad to see that he has recovered from his illness and is now back at the helm.
It did make me chuckle when he referred to whoever in the EFL sorts out the fixture list as a "clown sat in his office drinking tea / coffee who had never played over 90 minutes of football in his life".
Welcome back DC, we missed you!
