Well it's the last night of my holiday in Barcelona and a fine time I've had too. Strolling down Las Ramblas, gazing in awe at the unfinished nonsense of the Sagrada Familia, munching on lots and lots of tapas and drinking anything placed before me at little outdoor tables.
Lovely. I am now chilled out.
But one thought disturbs me. Should I have blown £60+ to watch a side I don't support? My daughter and her boyfriend (who sneaked unnoticed on to our holiday) have gone to the Nou Camp to watch Barca v Apoel Nic (who?) in the Champions League . Loads of spare tickets were available online at £47 each but with travel, food, programme etc - £60+. Barca won 1-0.
I didn't go. I thought - maybe I should. See Messi etc. See the Nou Camp (although I did the empty stadium tour a few years ago) but in the end thought sod it. I don't support them, don't care about them, and I'd rather have my last night out in the city.
Was I wrong? What would you, the follower of the Barcelona of the Conference have done?

I've done the tour too.
I would not have gone to the match, but enjoy my last night eating & drinking. :-)

If you go to the ticket office at the ground tickets are much cheaper. I've seen prices under 10 euros for an adult for games against lesser opposition when collecting tickets for a game vs Valencia a couple of years back. Admittedly you're up in the gods but it's still an amazing experience. Bloody cold though if it's dark!

Personally I would have done it whislt I am over there. I know that isn't cheap but the atmosphere always sounds fantastic and is something I would love to expereince and the stadium looks brilliant.
Although a chilled last night does also sound good.

I think your money would of been better spent in one of the brothels. Better to take part than watch.....surely?

100% you should have gone.
We were on holiday about 20 miles from Valencia a few years back and we went to see Valencia v Real Madrid who won 4-0.
The kids still talk about it now, you don't forget that sort of thing.

Back in 2005, as part of the Uk based Real Madrid fan club i went with a mate on an organised trip to watch Real against real Sociedad think the score was 1-1 or 2-1 and a packed stadium 70,000 i think.
Great night and Real Madrid treated us very well, even had a man at the airport to meet us and make sure we got sorted.

I was assuming he might not go to Spain again, but if he has the money to go again then "no" it wasnt that important that he didnt go in the end,i suppose what some people consider expensive varies amongst us on here.

I should have gone. The missus and I went for a very nice meal (cod baked with tomato sauce, lamb chops with rosemary and garlic, and roast potatoes with a herby crust for you foodies), but our son, daughter and her boyfriend all said it was the highlight of the trip and a brilliant experience, even if at 62,000 it wasn't a sellout. Really noisy, passionate but good-humoured with a small but very noisy Cypriot contingent.

Personally, I would have gone. The chance to see one of the finest footballers ever in the Nou Camp would appeal to almost every football fan, but clearly not all! I am a bit of a football nut and to be fair, i'll watch any game.

I had the same dilemma a few years ago, and went despite it costing a bomb. Barcelona vs Lyon, 2007. Well worth it, you get an understanding of the atmosphere, the sound of 100,000 people whistling all at once for no apparent reason, the mad top-down view with bats flying around underneath you. Also saw Henry score, Ronaldinho in his pomp, Deco, Iniesta, Xavi, Marquez, Zambrotta, a young Yaya Toure, and of course Messi as a long haired 20 year old on the wing, feet turning into a blur when taking on the full back..
Yeah it was worth it!

If you are a football lover, then yes, especially as other people went from your holiday party. Me, I would definitely go but I'm afraid it would be alone as the missus isn't in to footy. The experience of the nou camp would be tremendous.

Yeah I would have gone. Many years ago I was in Hamburg, as my sister was staying there at the time. She got tickets for us to see Hamburg play Liverpool in a pre season friendly. It was one of the first, if not the first time Kevin Keegan played for Hamburg. We, along with a few other English people got a police escort out of the Hamburg end, to the Liverpool end.
