I feel so sad to hear fans feeling like this (i am one also) but i feel very Angry at the way we fans are being treated by our owners, the timing of the UWE bad news not long after season tickets sale deadline, the silence, lack of any real positive news. But more than anything i think the UWE falling through for what ever reason maybe the final nail in the coffin for a lot of fans, one comment hit the nail on the head mentioning the state of Doncasters toilets in their old ground but just look at their ground now. We live in a different time now one where people expect better facilities etc and more than ever if you do not keep up with others you will quickly fall further behind than ever before. I for one wish for my club to be owned/ran by people who are Gas through and through and also let us get one thing straight our Arab friends did not save us out of the goodness of their hearts they agenda whatever that may turn out to be, and how can any of us really say that our club would have died before they came in total bollox if you ask me. UTG

UTG We will never know if the club would have gone into administration or not. We do know that when Sainsburys won the court case Rovers not only didn't have the funds to continue the UWE project but had incurred more debt . It is fair to say though that if D.C. had not gained promotion from the conference when he did the Sainsburys loss would have probably ended the club in the form it is now. Without the promotion cash and increased gates the club had no money and nobody with the money to rescue it. I suspect a move back to Bath would have been the only option selling the Mem to cover debts.

Fair enough but i feel we would have come through it like we did when leaving Eastville they were very hard times.

Rovers would come through it but at what level who knows (?) Stockport county remember when they were a thriving championship club.
The Al Qadis will in the fullness of time be looked upon as the people who turned BRFC around .

Building work started at the Colony, inspiring designs for the Mem rebuild and good signings. I would think most of us would see these as a benchmark for improving. I'd like Wael to say we are aiming for all this in 3 years and promotion to Championship football is the target. I wouldn't hold it against him if it took longer provided we were kept informed. Not sure the UWE explanation is going to happen, at least not officially.

Any idea when that will be ? perhaps when we colonise Mars Who knows. It took ten years for the Dunford board to get back to Bristol to just be renting from a rugby club. At the lowest ebb when relegation beckoned at Twerton crowds were in their 2000's so most had abandoned the club slagging it off at any given opportunity. 35,000 appeared out of the woodwork though when the goodtimes returned with a Wembley final against Tranmere in 1990. So its usual for fans to vanish when things look bad but they come back "faithful and true" when the good times roll again.

I started watching Rovers regularly in the early 80s. Wigan Athletic 4-0 at home. Graham Withey came on and scored a couple.I'd been to a few games in the 70s, but wigan at home, in the pouring rain was the beginning for me. And Larry Lloyd got sent off! I wept when Mickey died, was at Ashton when Mark Oconner headed us level before Randall finished them off. Was at the first game at twerton against Reading in the league cup. 7 years ago I had to move to Southampton. I stopped going to Rovers games for a bit. I followed as best I could, but it was a long distance love affair. Then we got relegated to the conference. I had to start following again even though a home game was a 150 mile round trip. Two of my daughters wanted to know why Rovers meant so much. One has become a season ticket holder and has moved to Bristol because of Rovers. We went to Dorchester and Woking and Eastleigh. Funny, all these years on, some teams are in the same place as we were in 1981. We are still playing Wigan, Pompey, Plymouth, etc. A few are higher up the league, alot have sunk into obscurity. Will I stop loving the gas? Nah. The Gas, the gas, you'll never get rid of the gas! Enjoy Frome, I'm sure itll be great. As for me, I'll enjoy being with my North Bristol family. Utg.

First game was a local derby 1974 Eastville, on Good Friday 0-0 draw. Never looked back, have managed between 10-20 games a season ever since including the odd season watching every game home and away. Fantastic memories of winning 4-0 at Fulham away in the playoffs, going to Anfield, Highbury, Wembley and enjoying the promotions. Still attended regularly despite living 6 years in Rome 4 year Lisbon during this time. Watching Francesco Totti and Rickie Lambert regularly in the same season.
I now keep my season ticket which my mates enjoy when I am absent, which works out roughly the same price of paying on the door for the games I get to. For me the last three years have been best for ages, great manager, good football and in a stadium that when in Bristol I can walk too. WAEL came in and gave the club a bounce, if he was in it just for a profit then why not sell the club on whist UWE was still a possibility.
To be honest I am not that fussed about premiership football height of my ambition would be the Championship in a rebuilt Memorial Stadium. Two or three seasons in Div 1, a new training ground built and work started on new Stands at the memorial. Would be progress and for me WAEL and Co delivering (a long way from the leaky roofs of Twerton).
