Is he slow though ? Slow would imply he is thinking about things a lot or just not acting or making up his mind. The truth is he has been talking to lots of players and has progressed talks with several. If a player then chooses to stay put or go to another club doesn't make D.C. slow. It just means Rovers are not as appealing as other offers for whatever reason. The whole doing nothing or "is slow" business is to coin a phrase a smokescreen for the real criticism. Which is basically another dig at the owners because they have not matched Bristol City.
It's irritating, but we've no real idea what's going on behind the scenes/what money DC as compared to other Div 1 clubs. Beckworth looked a great signing for Bury in the summer but that's hardly worked at well for them. Bodin looked a poor signing for 6 months or so but turned into a £1m+ player if he signed a new contract rather than jump ship. For those posters moaning about DC who do they expect SH/Wael will replace him with who is any better should he get your, apparent, wish and leave? I guess in a way it doesn't matter what other clubs have to spend on players. Rovers only have the money they have earned ,so that's all there is to spend. Improving what the club earns will increase what the club spends on players. The most obvious thing will be ticket prices going up in line with other clubs ,a team in the south needs to be charging 15% higher on the same type of tickets as those in the north. Rovers "appear" to be charging less than those in the north in many cases. Not good news for fans but that's the reality if Rovers are to compete on a level playing field whilst at a small stadium.
After that its over to the commercial managers to start bringing in more money and maybe diversify the portfolio.

Perhaps we just need to boost attendances to 9000, how hang on DC's done that already!

Perhaps we just need to boost attendances to 9000, how hang on DC's done that already! It does help a lot. But if Doncaster Rovers are charging £17 for adults behind the goal and seniors £13 that's more than at BRFC without taking into account the north/south thing. They are averaging over 8000 just a few hundred less than at BRFC. If the extra 500 are in the expensive seats/boxes or have meal packages etc then that's great but if they are £8 paying seniors then perhaps its not so great.
I guess the club need a full analysis of its customers.
Still imagine the problems if the crowds were 4000 !

We talk about DC being slow to act in the transfer market, but fail to remember that the blueprint of his success has been getting really good characters in to the squad (obviously who can also play a bit), and creating a great dressing room where everyone has each other's backs. Look at the years before he took over, when we had constant rumours of disruption in the playing squad, and of players leading unsatisfactory lifestyles. That helped to create the downward spiral that we couldn't seem to get free from, but that's all gone now, down to DC. In truth, when was our last disciplinary issue? All I can remember is one bloke telling the press about his injury! When was the last squeak of player unrest? He runs a very tight, happy and committed ship, and a lot of due diligence is rightly done into new permanent signings. Just look at Mensah. We haven't seen him play yet but no-one has had a bad word said against him. Partington and Sercombe come across like excellent pros. It is a very fine balance and I don't think a scatter-gun approach where we risk upsetting the great spirit in the dressing room is the way forward. We are obviously trying to do things on a tight budget and that makes things harder, but from where I'm standing DC is continuing to do an excellent job. Spot on 2nd May. A case where the sum of the parts are greater than the parts themselves. And from reading about the Sanchez, Man City, Man U situation this weekend even Pep G recognises that there is a need to keep a harmonious dressing room and not endanger it by paying a player well above all others. Yes I know it’s different but situation is similar albeit in a League 1 context. DC does pick his players carefully and spends the owners money even more carefully. And we’ve benefited from that over the past 4 years. Long may it continue. UTG!

If you think about it. The reason people are frustrated by the lack of signngs, is that they trust DC's track record so much, they're frustrated when he's not signing someone.
Trust in the manager, he knows what he's doing, and if we don't make any more permanent signings in the window, it won't be for want of trying.
