According to sun tabloid Posh have had 398 shots we have had 385 this season, and are in second place. If we could sort out our away form and get a few more wins, Rich might have to book the coaches!

That's the minimum statistic a team needs to maintain to win games. The rule of three.

Going forward has certainly not been our issue this season. Defending has, and, touch wood, we seem to have sorted that out since the Gillingham hammering. Just need to cut out our habit of conceding penalties. We have conceded just 4 goals since the Gillingham match, 3 of which have come from penalties. Also conceded 2 penalties in the Gillingham match!
Hopefully now we can kick on and charge up the table.

385 shots. Three shots on target every nine shots = 385/9*3=128 on target. One goal every three shots on target = 128/3 = 43 (rounded up). We have scored 39 to date so we're off the pace, but we're 8th in the table for goals scored. So we're on the pace there. I rest my case. I'm not sure what my case is though. |

It shows that attack wise the club (especially with Bodin) was pretty much "on target" to win games and that slight improvement could take them higher up the table and a better defensive record would see them top two or six at worst.
So whilst you want the rule of three for your attack you need to stop the other team getting the rule of three. Which is when throwing bodies in the way blocking shots ,closing down quick making players snatch at shots and reducing good clear opportunities really makes a difference.
If you keep 46 clean sheets you only need to score a goal in 23 games to win the league. 46 clean sheets and you need only score in 4 games to guarantee you don't get relegated. That's the bottom line. Every goal you concede makes it harder to win the league and harder to stay up.
