This is a bit of a random one, but there is an Eastleigh fan on a forum I frequent who is absolutely positive that the board refused DC permission to sign Turley because a new manager is coming in at Rovers. For the record, I don't believe the posts, I just thought i'd share this on here:

I thought he was signing for Bristol Rovers? :dunno:
He was but the board didn't want to give Clarke the money...so have pretended he failed a medical so as not to upset their own fans...

haha not true, enjoy yourselves this season before the money dries up, and it will, he has got issues still with his arm, no lies from DC
DC wanted to sign him, the board didnt want to back Clarkeys judgement.....the reason they didnt will become obvious prior to FA cup weekend in October....Bye Bye DC..

What an odd post. We'd already paid out hundreds in medical bills and x-rays etc. so the idea that he didn't sign because Higgs hasn't backed the manager is nonsense.
Half the reason we got relegated was because we signed injury prone players who then sat on the sidelines picking up a wage whilst we didn't really have a fit 18 players to make up the squad. Over a number of years that led to us being unable to recruit properly due to budget restrictions. We've learnt from that now.
From both sides it makes sense. BRFC didn't wish to take the risk, whilst Turley clearly couldn't afford to sit around waiting for a second opinion to come in. Depending on whether he stays fit, it might be the case that our loss is Eastleigh's gain.
Do you really think its an odd post?
Think about it - You paid a few hundred for medicals and the player categorically stated he wanted to sign for BR & Clarkey publicly stated he wanted to sign the player. Then he doesn't Sign and signs for another club within 24 hours, passing a medical at Eastleigh (i don't know how stringent that EFC medical was BTW, but the club obviously knew about his arm injury) There was a signing on fee involved, which Higgsy refused to sanction. Add to that, he didn't want to sanction it because your next manager will be bringing his own CH with him...Wait another month or so, all will be clear.
As i said before, personally don't believe it to be true, mentioned to him about the Balanta signing (can't see how that would be allowed if Clarke were on his way, results have only been good since) but I do find the matter interesting. Thoughts?
