Ha, I did wonder what your name was about. I never actually tried to say it. For me, I just tried to think of someone with gas in their name. It was also a memorable chant once in the corner of Popular Side v West Brom at home. Anyone whom was there at the time may remember it?

Because I like Dexys Midnight Runners and Gas. I also like dogs and sex, but I thought that might be a bit weird.

Mine is a cartoon strip character from a fanzine called (I think) The Gashead that was out in our twerton days.
The character was Gary Penrice's moustache (which obviously had a life of it's own), and it was my favourite bit of the fanzine.
Also, Penrice was the player I admired most from those days.

It's how I felt after we got relegated to the Conference which was around the time this forum was born after the club closed down the Official Forum.

Socrates is my Cat. He’s like a son to me. Is the cat named after the footballer or the philosopher?

Was mad on Scoobydoo as a kid. Nothing's changed now that I'm all grown up and my young grandson is also mad for Scoobydoo. I'm a Gemini (split personality star sign) and Mrs Scoobydoo says that sometimes she wonders whether I'm myself or the dog. I guess that depends on what I'm doing :-)

Is the cat named after the footballer or the philosopher? The footballer. Because he’s big and hairy Haha! I think that could have equally applied to the philosopher Socrates was a legend though. And amongst my very first footballing memories is watching Brazil at the '86 World Cup, with Zico, Socrates, Falcao and Careca. I remember being gutted when they lost to France, even though they weren't half bad either, with Platini and Tigana. In my memory that game was so good I was begging for it not to end. I wonder if that's just because I was impressionable and I was just getting football? Seems like a golden age, gone forever, though, with true artists of the game strolling around with the ball on a string. Physical power and raw pace holds far greater sway now.

Used to stand in the Thatchers end.
"Tone" would shout "sing up gas", someone else would reply "sing up tone".
Memory and one of those things that has stuck with me.
