My name is Sean and when I joined the official forum I was living in Clevedon. I kept the name when the OF closed and I joined Gaschat.
I moved from Clevedon though in 2016.

I'm simply a retro gamer. Currently collecting all sorts from old Nintendo and Sega console stuff to vintage computers like Amigas and spectrums. And all the piles of games that go with each one!

In the early 90s some Whitbread pubs had consoles that could be used to play quizzes against other pubs in their chain, using an interactive program called the Twin Network (iirc). I played it in the Baccy Jar, where there were a number of other Rovers fans. We had to have a sign in name, so there were various formats of Gas used to show our allegiance. Denis Rofe was the manager at the time, so I used his initials and added Gas and Doctor Gas was born. To this day some people still call me Doc. I have used it as an online pseudonym since then. Brilliant! Haha! Absolutely sort of thing was looking for when creating this thread. How diverse is that?!

Way back in May 1963 Rovers traveled to Halifax Town for a relegation battle in the old division 3.We had to win to avoid dropping into the basement division for the first time in our history.I rode my bike the 7 miles to Staple Hill, left it leaning against the wall of the bus station,(absolutely no need to worry about it being stolen in them days)before catching bus down to Stapleton road railway station to catch football special train to Halifax! the train was packed with fans with scarves , rattles and the like(ask your dad ,granddad what a rattle was!).We caused great excitement as we passed through all the stations on route, and the change in the scenery as we traveled further north was very marked and left a lasting impression as we passed one grey ,smokey northern town after another.I remember The Shay , the home ground of Halifax , being similarly dark and dingy, with a shingle/coal dust terrace behind one goal, chairs being put out in the grand stand and a shortage of programmes, dont think they were used to such a crowd! As for the game ,well we went 2-0 up, were pegged back to 2-2, but scored again to win 3-2, thus ensuring our status in the 3erd tier ,which we held for many tears after, our neighbors from south of the river dropping to the basement long before we did! I may be wrong but believe Ian Hamilton scored 2, and Bobby Jones the other, or was it Harrold,i am sure Rovers historians will put me right! So the return journey was indeed a happy one and on getting back to Staple Hill proceeded to collect my perfectly safe bike and begin the 7 mile ride home, one small problem,no lights, and on passing Page park a policeman stepped out in front of me with his torch and brought me to an abrupt halt! the conversation went something like this,"and where do you think your going young man"? " I am going home sir" " And wheres home" " about 3 miles the other side of Pucklechurch" ," and where have you been". " Halifax!". cue look of astonishment on a shocked bobby, and the reply"bloody hell, what on yer bike!" .OH no sir,and i then related the story of the journey , and after i was able to confirm the match details he sent me on my way! with instructions to get some lights, So i arrived home after a tiring, exiting adventure, to an almighty bollocking from mother, who didn't have a clue where the hell i'd been! So thats me , i will always remember Halifax!

Born in Lympstone just outside Exmouth. Lived most my life in Filton (pre internet day and now Brislington. There is already a Brizgas and unfortunately Brislingtonred on here, so with my dream being to move back to Lympstone in around 2 years time ive used this as my forum name.

I’m 55 so I’m old (relatively), I spent many happy Saturday afternoons on the Tote End from the age of about 14 onwards, and I’m a bit Old School with the stuff I like - music, bikes, hot rods, clothes, etc

I watched a lot of Johnny Bravo as a kid and even got my old man hooked on it.

Because I always have an axe to grind with someone?
To be honest I'm not sure how I ended up with my username but it rolls off the tongue and kind of suits me so I'm more than happy to keep it.
