They always do a decent report.
What I'm finding (maybe its always been the case but I'm noticing it more this season) is oppo fans seem to be more watered off with Ellis during and after the game.
Which is great. I know he's got a WUM personality but I'm assuming he's been told to really put himself about and get under players skin. He seems to be doing this and its paying off
Too many times over the years I've come away from games wishing we had the oppositions front man who bullied and niggled us all game. Hoping Ellis keeps it up

You can’t deny they’ve got something there when they belt out “Goodnight Irene” en masse.

Well done to the 1800+ that were there on Saturday. As always a good away following. UTG

That was a good read. I thought we were quite noisy for much of the game. The sound must disappear over the empty end. I think we play more decent football than other teams give us credit for. Second half we passed them off the park. Back to our ploughed field tomorrow and direct football.

Be interesting to see how it goes tomorrow once back on our own pitch, usually gives us an 'advantage' as used to it, however given Rochdale's pitch is 10x worse than ours they might be able to out mud us....

Fair report to be honest - I do agree with what he said about Ellis manhandling their defender off the ball - I couldn't believe the ref didn't award them a free kick to be honest. Ellis putting himself about physically in their box is great to see as plenty opponents do it to us.
I so can't wait to the Rochdale game now

A very balanced report which is probably reasonable given the stats in our favour for the match

"We’d been completely outfought in midfield" which is a massive improvement on last Saturday when you could say the same for us against Shrewsbury.

I find it difficult to understand why we didn't play like that against Shrewsbury last week. Is it because of the pitch, our shape, or the fact we only played with 1 striker with more midfield support?
I wish I could fathom all this out, but I suppose that's the beauty and random nature of football.

I wish I could fathom all this out, but I suppose that's the beauty and random nature of football. Without meaning to sound like a knob, there are two teams on the pitch in every match. The reason for us playing very differently in two games may have very little to do with our formation, tactics, shape etc - it’ll almost certainly be at least partly down to the tactics and formation of the opposition. Shrewsbury pressed us more and higher up the pitch than Oxford, and were also a bigger, stronger and more physical side. The two games are never gonna be the same, in reality. Edit: And of course, at Oxford we’re playing football on a bowling green, rather than on a battlefield v Shrewsbury.
