We have a couple of bigger sides that are still to play at the Mem who should bring a decent away following (Blackburn - 900ish, Wigan - 500 ish, Charlton - 500 ish) as well as drawing out some of the Gasheads who don't go to every game so I can only see that number rising. Especially if we keep this form up.

Part of the reason we averaged 9,300 last season was that we always had an outside chance of the playoffs till almost the last game, we also had that surge of support from playing L1 football for the first time in years. To average over 9000 again this season, for us would be impressive considering how bad our stadium is in modern football terms even compared to most teams in league one. If we can redevelop and offer ST's at attractive prices then we will become a club regularly bringing in 5 figure crowds which for a club in a city the size of Bristol and its surrounding area, we should be doing.

So if Rovers are only just getting top 8 crowds (Rotherham and Doncaster are very close so you could say top 10) Why should people including DC expect top 6 budgets ?
The rise in crowds is obviously due to back to back promotions and the belief more will come. Its also fair to say that the longer Rovers have been back in Bristol the more new fans will appear. Being in Bath set the club back 10 years on the fans front.
The point made that a decent away end with a good capacity of 2000+ would see some clubs bringing many more fans. If the stadium was new and of quality more people would come to games (both home and away fans)
A decent stadium with Rovers in this same midtable position with a good home record would see the average rise to about 11000 in my opinion.

Good points made there. Agree about a decent stadium seeing the average rise to 11000. But that’s a long term wish. In the meantime the owners, our new Commercial Director have to put together some plans to make the match day experience better for families with young children, for young people generally and for us oldies (in other words everyone!). Pre-match entertainment around the ground for kids to do, football nets properly organised, even outside larger bar areas with TV perhaps. More attractive rooms for food and drink with more seating areas perhaps, family areas for those using the family stand. I would even consider using part of the car park areas to do this. Anything where kids are going to say they enjoyed their afternoon and can we go again. Surely our new Commercial Director is aware of what is happening all over the country to attract, singles, groups and families with various aged children. Despite all the groans and moans on here we have a very sellable product at the moment and people at the top of our club, owners, manager and Chairman all have good personal skills and should be able to do this. We would probably need to improve the number of hospitality staff around the ground on matchdays but surely we can do that can’t we? Lots and lots of potential imo. Blimey we get 9000 on a cold February night with Champions League football on TV and get idiots like myself driving 6 hours to see us play with little other attraction than the actual football. By the way this is not a criticism because over the past 2/3 years I think I have seen an improvement in the match day experience just think there are some more gains to be had. UTG!
