Oliiie Clarke works really hard, limited skill, has a really good shot, not particularly creative, more of a utility midfielder, when all the midfielders are fit, he would not start in my first eleven, best coming off the bench as cover. I never understand why D.C. on occasions makes him captain, as he is in no way a leader. Agreed. Defensively fairly reliable, but going forward offers us very little, other than a powerful shot. Probably the worst passing midfielder I`ve seen, playing in the quarters.Blimey thats some criticism considering some of the dross I’ve seen this century!! UTG!

Think it's time for Ollie Clarke to return to the side. Brings that extra energy for the end of the season, as he always does - he always excels towards the end. Him for Lines would be an ideal replacement. Stick Sercs in central midfield with him, with Bennett on the left, and Mensah on the right in front of Parts. My team for Wigan: (GK) Smith (RB) Parts (CB) Broadbent / Lockyer (CB) Craig (LB) Brown (RM) Mensah (CM) Sercombe (CM) O. Clarke (LM) Bennett (ST) Harrison (ST) Telford May be a bit harsh on Gaffney but in that final ten minutes, Telford showed more than Gaffney did in the previous 80 imo. Why replace lines though?

TB's suffering to the latest DC undroppable, Craig 3 games/3 errors/3 goals conceded but I bet his name is already down first for the Wigan game, Bennett's another one. Except yesterdays goal was the fault of Lee Brown ,who held up his hand and apologised to the team at full time. But don't let facts get in the way of creating a new scapegoat.

Even DC mentioned Browner held his hands up to take the blame.

Hasn't shown much class this season other than a couple of goals. Think another player could do a better job, that's all.

This was said about Tom Lockyer when he got the armband And was constantly for about a year after, and still is now sometimes if we lose! I couldn't think of any players more suitable for the armband than Locks and Clarke; both came through our youth team and have been there through thick and thin with us, they are always up for the fight and bleed blue and white. As well as being humble and very professional, they are also both bloody good players who do their thing in an understated way, hence why they tend to be underrated at times by fans. We miss them big time when they are out (like Clarke yesterday). Absolutely agree and it's always the same I think re homegrown players like lines in his first spell, they get criticised very quickly because they haven't been bought. Every team needs this type of player to function as they are the workhorses who quietly go about their game and allow others to function. It's only when they aren't there people notice as invariably the team struggles and the impact players don't play as well.
