I read this in the Evening Post. Doesn't feel like 10 years ago Super Rickie was banging 'em in for us? Those goals Vs Luton away & Swindon home will live for me for ever!!!

Good times. A time when we had players that weren't afraid to shoot, were happy to shoot from distance, and we could break quickly. A big difference to nowadays when we get to watch our team take 20 touches just to get to the half way line while the opposition, the subs, and coaches and all the players' friends and family have had time to get back in defence and organise themselves. The style of play that sees us watch the team play it out wide, then backwards, then forwards, then out wide again only for a cross to eventually come in to people who can't win a header. Where the crowd erupt into loud applause when we win a corner without seeming to realise that we hardly ever score from one. When Stuart Campbell took our corners there was always an expectation that someone might get on the end of it. So many goals scored due to the man at the front post flicking it on for someone behind to run onto.
Why has my post turned into a rant? Well, crap day at work and I'm just in the bloody mood for an argument.

Jeez. 2007. I'd just been called to the bar and was living in a penthouse apartment overlooking the Olympic park build site. Rovers stadium double and promotion at Wembley. What a year.

Just listened to the interview, and JKF seems to be doing a Jason Roberts here. Re-writing historical fact to paint a picture of a loyal and dedicated club servant who adored Bristol, Rovers and the fans. Those of us not fooled by such self-absorbed nonsense will remember a rather different scenario.
I seem to recall that Kuffour wanted to move nearer to London. After all, Bristol is in the equivalent of the Siberian Tundra wastelands when you consider our pilgrimage like distance from the capital. So much so that, despite his club, you know, his employers who paid his considerable salary and in desperate of points, were obliged to leave him out of the team for an away fixture because "his head wasn't right" He eventually got his wish and moved to Wycombe. Wycombe! a town which is the equivalent of a STI in an area that has run out of Penecillin and medicinal ointment.
When he returned to play for them here I remember he spent most of the match flinging himself to the ground inside the area, imploring the ref to award a penalty. He got plenty from the home fans that day. He then just faded away from pro football. Perhaps he is enjoying a successful business career, and the best of luck to him. But please, spare us the Pravda-esq history re-write.
I wonder what's coming next? Perhaps Caryol explaining how he was forced to sign a contract at Middlesborough with a gun held to his head like in the Godfather!

Yeah when someone mentions Jo kuffour I just think about Rickie Lambert too lol. I never really rated Jo to be honest. Worked ok as a decoy for Lambert but Trollop playing him upfront on his own and then Campbell doing the same was a disaster. A small weak player who never scored many and spent most of the game sat on his arse with his hands in the air looking at the ref. To be fair Lambo carried that side in league 1 quite a bit. A far cry from our “squad “in league 1 these days.

I always assumed JFK was part of the gang with Wright & Regan who split the changing room, which eventually ended with PT getting the sack and over eventual relegation, to have him come back as some kind of a Rovers hero is a bit of a joke. Although not as big as the SC suggesting Anwer Uddin was a "fans favorite" as all I can recall him doing at Rovers was having a complete nightmare (debut?) v D&R unless I'm confusing him with another of Penney's signings.

Also had to laugh at Keith's suggestion that Darryl Duffy was competition as a striker.

Hahaha. You'll get into trouble if you assume anymore... Not quite sure why JK4 seems to be getting a bit of stick? Came out and said he didn't want too leave, but PB was forcing it on him and then twisting it to sound like Jo wanted too leave. Obviously he was more than happy to move back home. We all hate PB and I wouldn't put this past him. As for splitting the changing room, wasn't that Campbell who is still adored to this day?

Best I ever saw him play for us was the last game he played for us. Pre season friendly I think it was last one before the season started and he was immense, played out of his skin. Might have been because he knew scouts were there might have been because he wanted to stay I don’t know. What I do know is that I didn’t rate him as a league 1 striker because he didn’t score many and spent too much time falling over. That’s not unnecessary stick in my book it’s my opinion of a player who I saw many times. Good luck to him in the future it can’t be easy retiring mid thirties unless you’ve made it to second tier.

Scored 14 for us in the 09/10 season with 9 assists. Get's a lot of stick IMO and certainly wasn't as bad as people make out.

A strange amount of criticism for an ex-player who didn't have to go back to the Mem, agree to be interviewed and to praise the club, but chose to do all three.

I liked Kuffour, thought he was a bloody good player. Worked hard, honest and always did his best for the team.
Any other time he would be thought of so much higher, but he was in a squad as mentioned of Lambert, Hughes, Hinton, Elliot, Lescott, Campbell, Lines etc that outshone him. Nevertheless, I liked him a lot and I'm please to hear he's doing well for himself outside of football & also helping those who need it.
Good interview, thanks for your service Jo

You're thinking of Jerrel Ifil who was signed by Dave Penney, who got sent off on his debut v D&R.
