I accept however that Rovers are a selling club so a half million plus bid for Lockyer would be hard to say no to. Current prices I would hope for more for Ellis. Accepting a paltry 500k in today's market for a 23-year-old who recently signed a new contract, is our captain and is a full international, would be an absolute disgrace IMHO.

I haven't seen enough from Bola and Telford to justify bringing them in on permanent deals. I have my own ideas on who I'd like to see brought in, but DC has seen Bola and Telford in training/development games and if he feels they are worth deals then I'd go with his judgement. D.C. s recent interview kind of suggested in my opinion he would go for Telford and maybe Bola, but D.C. loves to roll the dice so maybe neither. when I think we could have signed jack Marriott in the summer and went for Nicho just hope he comes good, he is talented just doesn’t seem very strong on the ball. He was excellent for Exeter but can’t really get going here. Snake and Roberts were slow burners, only Barry Hayles came in and was an instant impact. What makes you think we could have signed marriott? His fee was reported as much higher than we payed for nichols and frankly peterboroughs recent history and higher wage bill makes them a more attractive club than rovers.

What a bargain Marriott was at £450,000. 25 goals later and Peterborough reportedly won't accept anything less than £6 million for him.

In hindsight yes, kiaran agard for £1,000,000 not so much of a bargain. The brutal truth is that marriott would probably have been too expensive both in transfer fee and salary for rovers and he would have preferred peterbro as their recent history is much better than ours.

Having sold Taylor and with the income generated from the Chelsea game, I'm sure the wealthy Al Qadi's could have afforded the transfer fee if they wanted and DC claims "If a player gets offered £500 a week extra somewhere else, he's going somewhere else."

Luton to Peterborough isn't much of a journey though so there would've been no need for him to move house or kids move school etc.

We will just have to agree to differ on that. In my view marriott was outside our wage and fee budget. Its a common trap to pick the top scorer in the division and say "why didnt we sign him?" Peterbro also signed miller from dover.

The current squad will be losing
Sweeney Telford Bola
As well as that there is still a question mark over Dan Leadbitters injuries.
Menayese will most likely replace Sweeney in the squad. The midfield is still light of a strong defensive player so I would imagine that will be a target in the summer. Bola will either have to be replaced or possibly even signed. Telford again will either have to be replaced or signed I would also like an old fashioned striker signed who can actually score goals with his head to help capitalise on all the corners the team gets.
So 4 players signed in the summer (if nobody leaves) hopefully loan players will soon be replaced by development players coming through

Keepers: Slocombe Smith (Andre) Defenders: Lee Brown Tony Craig Tom Broadbent Rollin Menayese Tom Lockyer (can we keep hold of him?) James Clarke Joe Partington (can also play DCM) Daniel Leadbitter Central Midfielders: Ollie Clarke Chris Lines Liam Sercombe (can we keep hold of him?) Stuart Sinclair (Luke Russe) Wingers: Kyle Bennett Bernard Mensah Ryan Broom Byron Moore (known to be out of contract) Strikers: Ellis Harrison (can we keep hold of him?) Rory Gaffney Tom Nichols Interesting to compare and contrast from the list in May. Matthews and Rodman are hard to categorise in terms of position but i’ve put them both as wingers as I can’t see them playing much centrally. Goalkeepers: No change Defenders: IN: Holmes-Dennis OUT: Brown Midfielders: IN: Upson OUT: None Wingers: IN: Matthews, Rodman OUT: Broom, Moore Strikers: IN: Reilly, Payne, Jakubiak (𝘓𝘰𝘢𝘯) OUT: Harrison, Gaffney

Goalkeepers: No change
Defenders: IN: Holmes-Dennis OUT: Brown, Bola, Sweeney
Midfielders: IN: Upson OUT: None
Wingers: IN: Matthews, Rodman OUT: Broom, Moore
Strikers: IN: Reilly, Payne, Jakubiak (𝘓𝘰𝘢𝘯) OUT: Harrison, Gaffney, Telford
So midfield/wingers looks stronger, strikers possibly more of an overall goal threat?, defence worryingly weaker if THD is not fully/up to speed soon, you sense DC still needs to get a couple of loan defenders in, although Kelly has stepped up to replace Bola and Rollin could replace Sweeney when fit.

Good point but Rollin is still not available and I don't believe has even been given a squad number. Looking very weak defensively at the moment.

I think that Rollin doesn't have to have a first team squad number as he's in the Development Squad?
