Nor indeed Nene Park, although AFC Rushden and Diamonds (I kid you not) are on the come back, division below Hereford. I remember going to Boston United. Where are they now? National league North? One of the few times I left 10 mins early at 2-0 down. Got to the pub near the station and it was 2-2! Real dump of a ground too. I drive past it sometimes as do some work over there on occasions. A reminder of how bad things can get and how far we could have fallen. ive always kinda liked York Street when ive been there, proper old school ground. There are far, far worse stadiums around that ive seen us play in, including our own.

I remember at one game a group of our fans leaving after about 20 mins, with the one leading them out glued to his mobile. Now I know there’s history of some trouble with Lincoln but I remember thinking to myself, Boston? Really?!

Its more handbags these days, I remember seeing the 'trouble' outside Home Park in L2 and thought to myself "this just needs the Benny Hill theme tune in the background" !

DC is the best thing to happen to our club in a very long time, perhaps ever.

Think it was the one where it was really hot day despite being November. Recall lots of running and chasing but not much else. Also remember a few seasons before being shoved into that dodgy pub down the hill by police outside (Pennycomequick?). ‘Your lot are in there’ they said. Then Plymouth lads turned up on opposite side of the road. The three of us had to choose between waiting for an escort or leaving on our own and taking our chances before things kicked off. Leaving early the right decision as I’m sure I heard that everyone else was marched straight back to the station and put on a train to Bristol. Sorry, I’ve gone completely off topic!! Yes, DC has worked wonders!

Wow that really is an eye opener i bet many clubs there would swap places with us in a heartbeat - well done DC And yet many question his line up, his changes, his purchases, his loans, his switches, but here we are, 4 years since being in the conference and now 4 points off playoffs to the Championship. You could never accuse DC of being boring or predictable though. Sometimes his selections seem confusing, however they create discussion and all the terrace managers can throw their hands up in horror and shout that he doesn't know what he's doing. I suppose that that sometimes he does get it wrong, but those few occasions are far outnumbered by the times he gets it right. I have no doubt that he enjoys causing confusion with his team selections, I for one bow to his brilliance and I urge the owners to get him to the negotiating table in the close season and thrash out a new 5 year contract. The mans a footballing genius, no other manager could get the same results with this squad of players. In DC we should all trust.

It amazes me that championship clubs hire gary monk, lee johnson, ian holloway, paul heckingbottom and others who have either achieved nothing or have achieved nothing for years. Paul hurst, derek adams, and dc get ignored meanwhile. Which is good of course but weird.

Yes, DC is the best thing to happen to us for years and years. But, I’ve always thought that had JW stayed in March 14 we would have stayed up, just. Mind you he would have gone that Summer and then DC would have taken over with probably not so many staff changes. No Stuart S, Matty T, perhaps Lee M. But real change would not have happened and it was needed and that summer going into non league there was a much needed big clear out. He was able to build a special squad. And I’m very sad but I really enjoyed that season in non league, good places. But I’m glad it was only one year. UTG!

Or was that the year before?

He did Baggs, but a new 5 year deal with improved terms would hopefully convince him the owners are determined to facilitate continual improvement and signal interested clubs that he's going nowhere. A kind of a "Keep looking guys, because if you want DC it's gonna cost more than a star striker"
