I dont think our defenders win enough of the individual battles against their opposite numbers. As an example i think Partington and brown are good footballers with the ball but its easy to imagine opposing managers targeting them as weak links defensively as both are vulnerable against any sort of pace.

You make a fair point about conceding a lot of goals BB. If we have aspirations to be in the play-offs or even going for straight promotion our defence needs to be better and we need to concede less goals. It’s not being critical or having a go at anyone, it’s just obvious surely? Statistically we need to be in the top 7/8 for goals against to be considered and not in the bottom four. I’m really happy about our position this season and see it as a positive season with DC doing a very good job but if we are going to challenge at the top for promotion we need to concede a lot less. I trust DC to sort it, either himself or bring a defensive coach in for next season. Perhaps he thought with Steve Y going at the end of last season he could absorb the defensive training into what he’s got at the moment. I expect something different next season. UTG!

We will never win anything with that defence, currently Blackburn conceded 35 scored 70; Shrewsbury conceded 27 scored 49; Wigan conceded 23 scored 63; Bristol Rovers conceded 56 scored 53. The only teams currently letting in more are Northampton, Fleetwood and Oldham

We score goals but we let in loads and its blindingly obvious our defenders are not good enough at defending. Its not about spitting a dummy out, more about hoping the manager sees the obvious weakness in our team over an 83 game period in this division. Surely the fact he brought Craig in suggests he did see the problem? Although why he brought in a 6 foot CB rather than a lump of a CH is a mystery, you can only assume it's the best he could get for the money the owners gave him to spend in January. DC got exactly the players he wanted in the window. Craig was DCs first choice and he was fully backed by the owners. I dont personally rate Craig at all and I think DC made a mistake in signing him. He really wasn't what we needed and he hasn't helped us stop conceding goals at all.
