Radio Stoke to-day revealed Port Vale losing a lot of money every month which their Chairman has said is normal for most clubs at this stage of the season. Not sure if our statement includes the fee for Billy Bob but the absence of any cup run can't help.

Impressive increase in turnover for us. If only we had better facilities to really maximise potential. Looking at the accounts though, we’d need some serious money chucked at us to even get out this league, let alone pay championship wages.😞

Yep that was a great day and a very close second was beating the sh** to get to the final at the millennium. Some might say the other way around but the Saints game was the best for me.

What an amazing 18 months that was, looking back.
Beating City, going to the millennium, going on an amazing run, win the play offs to earn promotion (Igoeeeeeeeeeeeeeee), 1/4 finals of the FA Cup.
Not bad eh?

I am slightly confused over several issues in relation to other division one clubs. So we now know our staff/players bill is £5 million per year. I can recall it was £4 million under P.T one season and caused much debate ( Dom Blizzard etc). On the face of it we have a very competitive budget much more than I anticipated. So well done to the club ! .
However: if we are losing £3 million per season on gates of 9000 and income streams of £6-7 million. How on earth do clubs survive on gate of 3000 and income streams of less than £3 million ?. Secondly: how can such a competitive budget put us in the bottom 8 for expenditure?. Another words are we saying teams like Walsall Fleetwood are spending more on budgets but generating smaller losses ?. How can this be ?. Either our budget is in fact much higher more like top 8 ? . Or more money is being spent on non playing staff ?. Or other clubs must have more money than sense backed by billionaires ?. I have lots of ? ..

£3m lost? FFS I lost £50 once, spent a week looking for it. Kids had to go without a pudding & sweets for a month. Kids survived, I am sure the club can, we own our own ground don’t we? I am sure we can loan a few bob against that or sell a few more pasties.

Debt is only a problem if it can't be controlled. If spending a fair bit of money more than we make enables us to become a self sustaining, well run club in the long run then I am all for it.
Great to see the turnover has increased a fair bit too, if Gorringe does a good job it could well increase more over the next couple of years.

Problem is we don't know what staff the £5m covers, is mostly the first team management and players, or a fair proportion on the Development and Academy Squads, coaches and players? Although it puts to bed the suggestion that our turnover is so low FFP rules means that DC has a restricted budget. Pretty sure our turnover is now very similar to Shrewsbury's.
