I've mentioned on previous posts that this club is not far away from being a decent side but DC does need help from the board. Next season is a big one for DC and the Gas The difference may well occur as more of the development side progress to matchday squad members. Having ready at hand good players (if inexperienced) will allow for the smaller numbers brought into the club to be of a higher quality. If D.C. only needs to bring in 3 players in the summer he can offer better wages and better fees if required.

Stagnate!!! Honestly BB you have too much time to post stuff like this! Nothing like PT the way he manages and I liked PT. We are progressing slowly but surely, in line with the money available I suspect. Of course there are managers who are doing well but such is football that by October DC could have overtaken them. Where’s he going to go? He’s happy here, we’re happy, what’s the problem? Ive like a few of your recent posts but this one....!! UTG! I was quoting dc when i mentioned trollope as dc himself has mentioned this. By stagnate i mean were nowhere near championship contenders on or off the pitch despite our slim play-off hopes imo. DC quoted what Paul Trollope told him about his time at Rovers. If he knew what really happened “ as soon as Lenny left he blew the wage budget on a far too small a squad if mostly sh**e players and plummeted down the league and never had any success as a first team manager since he left” DC may have felt differently.

As dc has said at least twice in interviews he would become a sitting duck if he stays at rovers. He said fans will lose patience at stagnation in league one and he will simply become a paul trollope mark 2. The evolution is a process which is seemingly happening especially with the startling progress of the development squad but it looks extremely unlikely we will be promotion candidates next season imo. For his legacy at our club and for his own ambition he really needs to move onto a more immediately ambitious club right now. Maybe hes missed the boat though? i mean people like paul hurst, derek adams and danny cowley have probably overtaken him which might mean hes stuck at rovers. Take a leaf from the moody blues song book and "go now" if youve any sense dc. Flewbutterfly, what are you doing? Go to 1shiteinBrizzle you sheed. UTG!

Fair enough but PT made some bad recruitment one window and got a load of crap, egocentric players looking for a good contract. They weren’t good enough and when things went wrong they were the exact opposite of most of the players in DCs squad and didn’t have the character to overcome problems. PT might think he stagnated I just think his recruitment was poor at the end. The two are very different. Blimey, I bet Man U fans were really jarred off with Fergie when he stagnated!! UTG!

I don't think DC is under any more pressure to succeed than the vast majority of other managers from the bottom half of the Championship to the bottom of League 2.
And under a lot less pressure than some in League 1, like those at Blackburn, Wigan, Bradford and Charlton, where a failure to get promoted will probably mean a P45 will be in the post.
To that you can probably add Portsmouth, Perterborough and Plymouth as clubs who have a fan base who feel more than we do that they should be in the Championship.
There are others as well in League 2 who have a higher expectation of promotion than we do, like Coventry, Notts County, and Swindon
I doubt if DC ever gets a good night's sleep, like most other football managers, but his nightmares are probably not as bad as those of a lot of his rivals.
The fans love him, we are generally content with where we are in the pecking order at the moment, attendances are decent, no-one is blaming him for the lack of progress with our terrible stadium and training ground, and even OTIB concede that he's done a good job for us.
Happy days.

You'd be surprised how clever some people in football are these days. They will have DC high on their list if there is a chink in the armour of him staying. Why would we not be promotion candidates next season? 2 stable, building, seasons in Lge 1, with real improvement since NY is the perfect ground for a promotion chance. Plus another ST record hopefully. Millwall kept their place in P/O's last year due to a mix of the Steve Yates celebration & giving JCS a final chance. If we'd played properly, with our best team, they wouldn't have even got in the P/O's. Fine margins.

It wound me up a bit when DC suggested that the fans will eventually turn on him like we did Trollope. You’d think he knows us better than that, and the majority of us would be happy floating around mid table L1 until we are ready off-the-pitch for Championship football. It’s only a minority who’d kick up a fuss.
And I’ve said in another thread, he’s been backed pretty well when you look at this season as a whole - 3/4 good (on paper when he signed them) L1 players on significant wages, over half a million on fees, and an U23 side out of nothing. Not sure how much more they could have backed him this season without breaking FFP.
That said, I think he could be tempted by Ipswich or similar in the summer. He could still use the “Ive taken the club as far as I can” line, even though I’d disagree - it’s evident we are close as a squad to challenging playoffs.

I can't believe DC would turn down a 3rd club that is higher in the footballing ladder than us.
People on here saying they are happy for us to stay in league one until we sort out our ground and we would get beaten every week.
DC is saying he wants to take us up, well he may well do that. He leaves, we get relegated (possibly). He isn't going to be here forever, and worry that the day he leaves, we will fall a long way back again.
I wouldn't say DCs football is the best, could blame the pitch this season, but it's the best we've seen for years and the ethic of the team is unquestionable.
As always it will go back to the board to cement our future, the stadium absolutely must be built, not a patch up job either. I am more for wanting us to be looking at another site, but who knows what is going on.
Its unlikely when DC leaves we will have another manager that brings immediate success in the same way, sorting the above out will help us go along going forward. I hope the board aren't taking for granted that DC has signed a 5 year contract, so we can just float.

I renewed my season ticket this week but i think most of the squad are right at the upper limits of what they can achieve and although its nice to be in league one after our recent history its difficult for me at least to see us getting promoted any time soon. I suppose part of me would like to see the manager get a better job before it all goes sour.

Clarke, like many of us, was lead to believe that the owners would provide the finance to build a new stadium of Championship quality and have serious ambitions to progress to that level. They had a golden opportunity and it is now clear that they are not, we have all been deceived. Clarke would be a mug not to accept an offer to manage at a higher level whilst Rovers' stagnate (at best).

When people say chris hargreaves will be the next manager is it just because he speaks well in interviews? What about marcus stewart? What about a person thats achieved something in actual league management?
