I remember a really good game v Ipswich at Twerton when we came back from 2 nil down to draw 2-2 I think it was Stewart’s debut could be wrong. It was 3-3 and an absolutely amazing game. Stewie played a blinder on debut but Jock had a nightmare. First game of the season if I recall.

That was a shame. Bet they wish they had that team now at ipswich? 6-0 in the replay i think? No only half that 3 - 0 If it’s the fa cup when Gould scored a perfectly good goal, that was disallowed for offside, we did lose 0-6 at Ipswich. The Gould goal wasn’t offside as it came off of one of their players. Orange ball and snow eDIT 1-6

Eastville. 1978. Dennehy goal disallowed for offside. Never was. Ipswich went on to win it.

So if Ipswich appoint DC and they do well they would be unhappy? One day DC will go for whatever reason but life goes on. If they appointed mark mcghee and they did well they would be happy. If they did that and they did well it would be a ******* miracle! UTG!

Really? Felt sure it was Dennehy. Mind, I was only 9 at the time and there's been plenty of things gone on to ruin my memory since then.

I seem to recall 20mans saying they ignored his instructions at half time and played it the way the team thought best.

Martin O'Neill was with Wycombe in non-league at the time and also turned down Nottingham Forest and Leicester City. Would've been great if we could've got him.

Can’t see DC going anywhere, I’ve heard he’s appointing a new chief scout soon. THAT is interesting. How does the scout cell works, for now ?

Forget how good big Devon was at holding the ball up, exactly what we need now to play alongside Ellis. A centreforward who wins the ball in the air, holds play up to bring better players into the game and scores regular goals.

Dobson was third choice behind Gerry who left and Martin O'Neill who as said turned us down on account of no prospects without the ground. Wycombe had just built Adams Park if I recall. I think Dobson's last game was the 3-1 defeat by City in the League Cup. Denis Rofe then stepped up for the following league game which we won with a renewed passion. I knew instantly that we would turn round the deficit which we duly did at Ahston Gate. Great atmosphere. Wasn't to last but some great games under Rofe and then Big Mal. Who remembers the "Denis was stabbed in the back" T shirts?

I remember the game well I was with my lad of twelve at the time and at 3 nil down, I asked him if he wanted to go. To my surprise he said no dad we can get back into this. Sadly that was the brightest moment of Dobsons reign possibly our wost ever manager. Back to the OP I can't see Darrell going there tbh.

I was gutted that day when Bobby Gould’s goal was disallowed

I hope not given he took the time to personally email me yesterday!! Although the worry is Ipswich are apparently still happy to wait until the summer, so it sounds like they have somebody in mind who's employed elsewhere at present.
