Spot on Buckrippers!
The board have never accepted responsibility for the demise of our club!
We are still waiting for the director with IT skills! WTF!
When we hit the top six, the board need to be in a position to get all the fans on side - gather data, more ticket offers, do whatever it takes to build momentum. We have to have momentum once we hit L2. We have to get on a roll! A winning Rovers team will attract 7-8,000 at home.

For me, the most remarkable thing about the support is the consistency. Am I wrong, or were we getting practically the same numbers in the third division? (Ok, League One if they insist. Weird.) I'm sure any other club would lose a lot of people after two relegations.

You are correct! and I suspect our board have a choice - go full steam ahead and gamble on the UWE attracting bigger crowds or stick with a low budget football club with 6,000 fans and just make a bit of dosh!

You are indeed entitled to criticize his work but you didn't really say why you didn't like it in your first post, you just said he'd wasted some of his life writing it. Im sure if youd said something against his view people would not have got on your case. I personally don't agree with Nick on this one. I think anytime the review comes out will already be too late and to do so during a good run to bury it would be madness imo. He is right though, if the BOD end up getting off the hook on the back of a good season then they will have been very lucky indeed. Conversely you could argue that the Board were put on the hook on the back of a bad season so getting off it in the same way is not really " luck" but par for the course.
We were all clamouring before last season for John Ward to be persuaded to stay and for JJ to be signed . We are led to believe that he alongside others were signed on one of the largest budgets in the division. We seemed to be heading full steam ahead for a promotion push. We had the new stadium in the pipeline and NH and his crew successfully overturning objection after objection.
Had that team delivered a good season - do you really think that all this anti board feeling would have surfaced?
Don't you think there are many Gasheads who were frustrated and angry with the 3 previous seasons too ? Me for one ! We are punching way way below our weight but it has being going on so long many supporters just expect/wait for more failure. That is why some of us got off our arses and started kicking up a stink. We are still actively trying to keep the people who are running our club on their toes. We are doing it by dialogue - it's not easy but protests won't happen at Rovers as supporters here are so loyal and prepared to put up with very little !? I hope meetings arranged will be very well-attended then the board can see - the passion but also (demand) for overall improvement at the club. UTG ! Mark

Probably a shiny new stadium would attract more support. People are drawn to nice facilities and to the professionalism that they represent. A match seems a bigger occasion to many people in a "proper" stadium. Also, plenty of seats and rain protection are practical incentives, not to mention a good, raised view of the pitch. I'd love to see it happen... but I would miss the Mem!

I don't like the idea of sitting down in a third full stadium watching us I never have. But I appreciate it probably would help us move forward as a club. I'd rather we developed the Mem into a 15000 capacity stadium with some terracing remaining. That would be my ideal scenario.

Although, 15,000 may be a bit light, if we ever got into the Championship??? Got to be optimistic, planning ahead! I don't see why we shouldn't fly as high as City, or get as many people through the gate in those circumstances. But yes, I'd rather see the Mem developed, and keep some terracing.

I think that if we did develop the Mem in the way we're saying then we would do it in a way that it could be extended to 20,000 because you need 20'000 + to be allowed in the Prem should that ever happen. It's just that we're so far off the championship let alone the Prem currently that I just can't see a big 20,000 capacity stadium being right for us. History has shown that we've rarely improved our attendences when we've gone up the leagues and if City were only getting 14-15 k in the championship then I think its unlikely we would get more. Atmosphere at the football is important to me, maybe more than most I don't know but whenever I've imagined being sat in the UWE watching us I've never had that excited feeling that it would be amazing. I imagine sitting there in a quiet atmosphere with lots of empty seats all around me. Stuck in my ways ? Probably but when I watch a championship game on tv those grounds are often only half full and it looks quiet and sounds quiet. I love the blackthorn end and id like to keep standing here and see the stands around it improved.

I can't even imagine Rovers in the Premiership. I think we would be a very different club and I'm not even sure I'd want it - probably couldn't afford the tickets. The Championship is a good enough dream for me, with a developed Memorial Stadium, keeping the Blackthorn terracing. I wonder how the streets of Horfield would cope with 10,000 more spectators.

Trash would then be complaining we were stopping trade on Glos Rd and campaigning for us to be moved!!
