One thing I've noticed since last 10 years is we never, or rarely hear chants based on tune of something in media or in charts.
Maybe that whole concept is old hat?
Perhaps our fan base is getting older ?
I do hear other clubs' chants and think ahhh yea we had our own version of that, and it now sounds (to me) old fashioned..
We don't even sing blackthorn cider song these days! Feed me til I want no more......oh yea, they don't make blackthorn anymore!?

Agree with the op....twerton days were a lot more hostile in my opinion and the singing came thick and fast...we must have had a song for half the team at least and a lot more West Country shout outs in the songs... I don’t have a problem with nicking songs off other clubs and putting our version on it as it’s nice to hear new stuff... Ah we’re the gas ah we’re gas etc should be sang a lot more than come on you blues.. I do think the fact our record of conceding goals at home( we bottom of the league in this stat) doesn’t help even with our home record which is wobbling a little, You can tell there’s more tension now each game... I also think the lack of singing is down to swapping and changing formations etc... But we do need to have new songs and bring in some old West Country classics and like previous posts mentions stop sweet Caroline being played and better slower good night Irene version loud and proud.... England's number one for Nigel Martyn Bruno, Bruno One Billy Ocean Ollie, Holloway..when he gets the ball.... Reece,Reece,Reece...... Will you ever beat the Gas? We all agree, Roger Malone.... Drink up thee zyder (briefly) Gerry Francis' barmy army Gerry, give us a wave.... I'm sure there were more. Your never beat Steve yatessss

But blatantly nicked after Italia 90 and the "You'll never beat Des Walker" chant.

I think nostalgia often plays tricks. I don't think the Mem is any quieter than it used to be. The crowd sing a small part of Irene, and we forget we have a song for DC and Gaffney (which I have never heard anywhere else). But now football is all over the TV and Social media its obvious fans copy each other. When the Gas goes marching in was in the 1960's Southamptons song

To the song "monster Mash".
Kyle's a Gas ---- ----- (clap) Kyle's a Gas ---- ----- Kyle's a Gas ---- ----- Kyle's a Gas ---- -----
Similarly, Darrell's a Gas etc Slocombe's a Gas etc.

The Blackthorn song died when they sponsored the teds.
Kyle Bennett must surely get the magic hat song, see fabregas or Juninho for Chelsea and Boro versions.
Something like
Kyle Bennett's magic, he wears a magic hat He could've signed for cityyy, but he said no, f*ck that, He scores goals on his left side, he scores goals on his right, And when we win the league, we'll sing this song all night. Ohhhh Kyle bennetts magic...

When the Gas goes marching in was in the 1960's Southamptons song Everton used to sing the same song about Fellaini a few years back, but with "I want curly hair too", and oddly, "I'd let you sleep with my wife", rather than the more crass version we have here.

How Lee Brown has no iconic song is madness. Here's my first attempt!
In the theme of the yogi bear song "I know someone you don't know, yogi yogi"
He stayed with us when we went down, lee brown, lee brown. He stayed with us when we went down, lee lee lee lee brown. Lee lee lee lee brown, lee lee lee lee brown, he stayed with us when we went down, lee lee lee lee brown.
Then he took us straight back up lee brown, lee brown. Then he took us straight back up, lee lee lee lee brown. Lee lee lee lee brown, lee lee lee lee brown, then he took us straight back up, lee lee lee lee brown.
Matty taylor hit the post, shithead, shithead, Matty taylor hit the post, he's a shithead red. He's a shithead red, he's a shithead red. Matty taylor hit the post, he's a shithead red.
Who was there to smash it home, lee brown, lee brown Who wasn't there to smash it home, lee lee lee lee brown. Lee lee lee lee brown, lee lee lee lee brown, Who was there to smash it home, lee lee lee lee brown.

The age profile of our support is really high, most of them struggle with a good old rendition of Goodnight Irene; I guess the serious point, is the club need to attract more youngsters, all those who used to pack the Tote in the 70s are now-a-days knocking on between 60 and 70 themselves.

Our Chairman personally told me this wasn't so, and that Swansea had a higher age group of supporters, and I replied, Yes but they have a new ground and are in the Prem, so that would attract all the youngsters. I think at the moment we are relying in Gasheads breeding to keep us going

I'd love some of the old timers (no disrespect) to either get the old songs going or let a group of young uns know the words in the pub beforehand.
I don't know many songs and would love some more to sing.

Here's my...erm...effort of using Liverpool's new tune which I know has been used all over Europe for a while now.
I've also seen Barca fans do a pretty entertaining march across their ultras section when they sing the chorus but I think that might be a bit much for us!
When Rovers win, (clap clap clap clap) All night I'll sing, (clap clap clap clap) Goodnight Irene, (clap clap clap clap) Til I get in, (clap clap clap clap)
And if we lose, (clap clap clap clap) Who gives a f**k, (clap clap clap clap) Cos Darrell's still (clap clap clap clap) Gonna take us up!
Allez allez Allez allez etc

What about this?
Sung by Sheffield Wednesday but changing the lyrics to:
Darrell had a dream, To build a football team, We had no players so he Went for youth and some loans, Lockyer at the back, Stefan in attack, We're Bristol Rovers we're on our way back! De De De De De De
Opinions? [edited]

I saw a video on You Tube a while back of Newcastle fans at Swansea? singing “Sunderland’s going down and the Mags are going up” doing the actions as well. I hope one day we can do our own version “city’s going down and the Gas are going up” and that I’m still fit enough to do the bending and stretching 🤞😀
