Hi Gasheads! I forgot to post this on here, whoops. GasCast had a chat with Supporters Club Chairman Jim Chappell. If you would like to listen, you can find it here: gas-cast.co.uk/blog/podcast/gascast-chat-supporters-club-chairman-jim-chappel/Thanks! In this episode of GasCast – the Bristol Rovers fans podcast – we bring you something a little different to usual.
Tom Metcalfe takes the reigns in a chat with Bristol Rovers Supporters Club Chairman Jim Chappell. In this chat we learn a little more about what the Supporters Club has done historically for The Gas, where it is headed, and get nostalgic with talk of Geoff Bradford et al.
We then discuss matters on the pitch, looking forward to the Blackburn Rovers game on Saturday at the Mem, the great progress made by the Development squad this season, and how we feel our chances are looking for next season.
We hope you enjoy listening, and UP THE GAS.

Remember a statement from BRSC a few years back prior to going into the Conference-may or may not have been Jim Chappell-urging our club to model itself on a well run club like Hartlepool???Pre forum and our communication then for those of us not local was the column in the Green-'Un and the BRSC glossy leaflet previewing games and grounds.

I think they have achieved some great things, in principle, such as the club shop, the share scheme and the fans' directors. These have not worked out too well in practice
They seemed to turn into a part of the club, rather than something supportive but independent of it, but they were left to run things for themselves. Enthusiastic but amateur fans controlling a lot of money.
In that poorly-controlled situation, there was always the chance that some misguided troubled maverick would take the opportunity to divert some of the cash their way, without proper checks and balances into what was being done.
No surprise to me that our owners distance themselves from them these days.
