Broadbent should be our first choice CB I think.

I think maybe Broadbent and Mayenese as centre backs with Craig playing as left back next year. Maybe Craig was always destined to be the Browner replacement? I think craig/lockyer with broadbent/menayese putting pressure on to get in the team.

I'm going to stick up for the James Clarke cause here...
He is one of those players that isn't particularly fantastic in any position.
But when leadbitter is out, who do you call upon? James Clarke When we are struggling for CBs because of internationals or injuries, who do you call upon? James Clarke If you need someone to fit into any position across the back or in midfield and not perform any differently, James Clarke is your man.
He's not the most gifted footballer, but he's a great utility player, on Saturday if slocombe got injured and Smith wasn't on the bench, James Clarke would go in goal.
I rate him because of how versatile he is, and it doesn't matter where he plays he always puts the effort in.
He gets quite a bit of stick, but remember he is a CB and I think the last time he played CB was some time in 2016. Cut the bloke some slack, I'd be disappointed to see him go.
Sweeney, bola, leads, Moore, burn to go, and a few 'maybes' (gaffney or nichols or both pending replacements) (broom, Hargreaves some of the other youngsters- haven't seen enough of them to judge myself, that's down to the coaching staff, if they're not going to make the cut it's pointless keeping them) (bahgdadi, russe, kelly all look like they can make the cut, but again, I don't see them week in week out, they made a first team appearance and were all brilliant on the pitch)
And agreed, we shouldn't be letting players go unless we have better options.
Both the keepers are sound at this level. Smith is young, and I think he would benefit from a loan to a L1/2 club next year now he's fit again. On the other hand he may want to stay all season and fight for his place, but at 21/22 I'd be wanting game time, and if I couldn't get it here I'd want to be loaned out to someone who needs a first team keeper at a similar level.
Mensah - another player who would benefit from a loan, or a weight bench.

I agree with you on James Clarke. A very good back up / utility player to have in the squad who can play anywhere along the back line. I think his best position is as one of a back three but DC has largely gone away with what was one of his preferred formations the past few seasons. We must also remember that he spent more than half of the season out injured and he was DC's first choice right back for the opening game.

It's going to be a long summer. No it’s not we’ve got England to look forwa.... yeah your right it is. True socrates, but at least we can look forward to watching the World Cup this time in a bit of comfort. Last time, 2014, I couldn’t watch it after what had happened. Not too worried how England do but at least we’re in League 1 and in 2014 I didn’t think that would have been the case!😉 UTG!

Really don't want to see too many changes. We are 4 quality signings away from being competitive IMO. Would like to a new striker, would release Gaffney also try and get Telford on a perm. Priority is a quality DCM who can dictate play in a central 2, this would give us great options esp away from home. Obviously a new left back with experience. Finally a new right winger who cuts in.
Release
Burn Gaffney Brown Moore
Would try to sign all our young loans Sweeney, Bola and Telford. All have shown promise and quality at some time and are worth adding to the squad.

Why can't we have a wing who stays out wide? Saturday's goal came from Browner doing what a traditional winger should do, getting behind the defence and pulling the ball back to a striker.

Not saying we can't! its just my preference to fill the void that Bodin has left.

All the back 4 that started today I personally hope won’t be here next season. Browner obviously wont be. James Clarke offers little attacking (unlike parts and leads who have there own battle there when fit). Craig I’m confused with. We not tightened up at the back since his experienced head arrived. Just the same before he arrived. Tom Lockyer I would cash out with him now while hes a young welsh international. Lockyer is a really water poor player. 1st game next season i’d Go leads right back. Kelly left back. Partington center back and captain. And another experienced center back to be signed. Broadbent ain’t streetwise yet and I don’t think he’ll catch up as he’s late in the game of football. Steve Elliott anyone. Why don’t you just say you want DC sacked Nope just giving my view on the op. Most definitely don’t want D.C sacked.

A few people saying that Gaffney wants to try his luck elsewhere anyway. Thought it was common knowledge Gaffers has asked to be released.
