It's disgusting to see so many knocks to a man who stuck with us when we were at our lowest and everybody else left, and went on to participate in back-to-back promotions with major contribution, just because he's seen the end of the line here and decided to try a challenge elsewhere. You treat a club legend, with years of BRFC under his belt, like he's O'Toole just because he said the truth (that we're not ready for the Championship) and chose to earn more money to support him and his loved ones... then wonder why so many players won't sign for us. I’ve been reading this thread and I’m struggling to see where your coming from. Seems to me 99% of our fan base respect Lee and appreciated what he’s done for our club.

From his point of view if he signs for Pompey on much higher wages who can blame him ?,wouldn't we all do the best for our family's while we can?it does not change the contribution he made to our salvation.Looking at it from a professional point of view i think at league one level he is a good squad player but not an automatic pick, not a championship player, and probably in his element at league 2 level, so good luck to him and grab every opportunity to maximize his earnings while he can.

In my opinion. Its a good move for him.
And I'm sad that a club legend has gone, but happy that he's getting a good move. To be honest- i'm happier he's chosen this than snubbing us for some tinpot club.
All discussion said- he's gone time to move on. Even if Browner had stayed, we would want a fullback competing/ in his place. Brown is very very solid. But we're looking for the next level, now.

"But we're looking for the next level, now."
Assuming he his going to sign for Pompey and be their first choice LB do you seriously think they aren't going to be at least the same level as us next season?

I think they have a better chance of promotion than us. Pompey have always gone in to every season since they dropped out of the prem as one of the favourites to win promotion. They seem pretty unpredictable though. I wouldn’t be surprised if they finished top or mid- table. I agree they’ll probably finish higher than us but at this point it’s so hard to predict where teams will finish , it’s the earliest of early days.

Interesting that they have an all seater stadium and get 17000 most games, and I suppose that's why they can spend more on wages. But I'm pretty sure if we were moving in to the UWE this season then we would be having a full house for most of the season. meanwhile I wonder how the sales are going in the new tent

Everything depends on the transfer business, but they've already brought in a couple of promising players, have a striker that can score 20 goals, a manager that has achieved promotion from this division a couple of times and a billionaire owner.

Sorry didn’t realise you were quoting me. Mmm, my point is: Lee Brown going was really sad. I don’t think there’s a gashead that didn’t want him to resign. That said- if Browner had stayed we’d of still been in the market for a left back and hopefully one better. For all his greatness - which he was. A few too many crosses we’re liable to get in.

Lee Browns already replaced. Michael kelly is in the building and ready to fill Lee browns right boot. I know we only seen 10 mins of him but they were an impressive 10 mins. He's a promising player, but a bit early to be thinking of him as our no.1 choice left back next season. I'd be looking to bring someone else in and have Kelly challenging him for the position. He’s doing ok so far. Keeping that pointless loan signing out the team.

Thought Kelly played well yesterday against an experienced winger. But the guy is young and will need a rest from time to time so will be great to get Holmes-Dennis fit. From what I saw of that loanee (not much as he was sent off while I was watching) I would send him back now - a complete liability.

We’ve signed an experienced left back on loan and we’ve got a young left back who’s come through the youth development team and also signed a promising player with a big history of injuries who may or may not come good . I’d call that a good combination and it gives us good options for a position that we obviously needed to fill having lost Lee brown who a fantastic player for us. Position covered , good management .

Hmmmm can't understand why Browner made that particular move? Baffling at the time.....?
Just look at the league table.
