Not sure if Gillingham are just a particularly tall side, but I can’t have been the only one who thought that we looked like a team of school children compared to our opposition?
They were just taller and stronger than us all over the pitch. Other than Lines, not many of yesterday’s starting XI can be over 6ft tall? (and he’s not exactly the most dominant player physically).
Personally I’d like to see a 6ft + CB, CDM and ST signed this summer to try and get some height into the spine of the team. It felt like Bennett, Moore and Nichols could have formed a human tower yesterday and still been shorter than the majority of Gillingham’s side!
Anyone else think our lack of height and physical dominance has been an issue at times this season?

Not particularly. Maybe a tall striker to play alongside Ellis would be useful but to be honest I would rather we were all smaller and played decent football like we do.

Hope we hang on to Broadbean as he's 6' and has a certain presence.Sweeney no longer in contention it seems but he has height.Gaffers despite his more physical presence doesn't head the ball and in any event plays far too much out wide but can't see him being retained.Lionel Messi and Aguero are only little but at our level a bruiser like Andy Rammel wouldn't go amiss.

Messi ain’t tall, we’d take 11 of them...
I think yesterday the ref was odd. Very little was given in the way of grappling. Both sides could have been penalised a few times. Played to their strengths.
I’m not too concerned regarding “height” we battle well.

Agree with you - we've been outmuscled by taller, more powerful teams frequently in the last 2 seasons - and lost many points as a result. We definitely lack a dominant CB, like Bauer at Charlton.

Maybe we should get a pair of players to do that lifting thing the egg chasers do at throw-ins.😂

I would love us to go in for someone like 6ft 4in Ben Heneghan at Sheffield United. He might be available having not made a first team appearance for them this season. Or maybe bring back 6ft 4in Cian Bolger. 6ft 5in Luka Bogdan is a class act in Italy. Dorian Dervite (6ft 3in), Sebastian Neumann (6ft 3in) and Israel Puerto (6ft 2in) all out of contract this summer.

We need someone, maybe he's already at the club though - initials TB - he's going to be a class act ( not far off already).

They certainly weren't stronger than us all over the pitch, no.

I noticed northampton were a really big powerful team, one of their centre-backs was huge. They will surely do really well?

Height in a team is always useful but tenacity and strength is also important and perhaps it's that bit of bite we need.

Yes. Our two first choice centre backs are both short, struggle to deal with crosses from the width. Broadbent offers height, hopefully he will get more games next season, and imo we could do with a Andy Rammell type character alongside Ellis, somebody like the fella who plays up top with Will Greig at Wigan.

I noticed their keeper was massive, one of the biggest ones we've played against.
