A good business plan; aligned to the footballing side of the club is always better than chucking money around like confetti

It’s always sad when a team goes out of the league, you feel for them esp the supporters. Almost the exact opposite of us, whilst we were losing to Mansfield they were Champions of League 2. How four years can be so different. But whoever goes out of the league there will always be a sad story as we all experienced back then. And someone has to finish in the bottom two to go out of the league, I suppose you can’t have 24 well run clubs in a league and this sounds like the club’s management has been dire. Very hard league to get out of as we know and this season it has been even harder. At one point I thought Wrexham were going to be champs but they haven’t even made the play offs after losing their manager to Walsall. But I do have a feeling that Chesterfield will do it, good luck to them. UTG!

I have feeling we will struggle ourselves next season without good investment in the team.
A ground has to be a top of the list for Wael, we in desprate need of a ground elsewhere or full rebuild at the Mem site.

Nor is playing in a sh** hole, as we know. If you read it fully they had a top six budget, tell that to DC

You could say the new stadium almost delivered what they hoped it would achieve: "Chesterfield made the play-off semi-final for promotion to the Championship as recently as three years ago but lost to Preston, then Cook took up an offer to manage Portsmouth."
I'm not really sure how you go from basically Shrewsbury's position now to the National League in 3 seasons, I guess like us in the past just employing managers like Buckle & McGhee.

A new stadium is the answer. Just bad management is not. After Chesterfields new stadium, they were doing well but then lost their manager and not had a good man in charge since. Hence dropping down to where they are now. However, look at Brighton, Swansea, Cardiff and im sure many other examples, where a new stadium was built which brought in the revenue to improve the quality on the pitch and see them now. What helped these sides is that they had a good manager who recruited well with the new found revenue that the new stadium brought to the club. So im sorry but I respectfully fully disagree with your point here.

Interesting thought, when we were playing badly and it looked like the UWE was a certainty it seemed the majority thought the stadium should be put on hold and we should concentrate on the team.
Now we are doing relatively well and the stadium is unknown it seems the majority realise the stadium is central to any further success.
Truth is it needs to be done in unison otherwise we will struggle longer term.

Given we dropped out of the FL and were slightly fortunate to bounce back perhaps that view was right!
Although is funding a new £40/50m stadium easier for a Championship side than a Div 1 side, as I'd imagine there's not many, if any, Div 1 side who've ever embarked on such a big project?

Although Brighton & Hove Albion supporters were not so along ago leaving the goldstone looking like they were going out of business, move to play at running track, now best in a new bred stadium and playing premier league football. Some revolution is the way forward. Or was simply crying wolf. Utg

"Promoted in 2014 under Paul Cook’s management, Chesterfield made the play-off semi-final for promotion to the Championship as recently as three years ago but lost to Preston, then Cook took up an offer to manage Portsmouth. Chesterfield sold players, including Sam Clucas to Hull City for £1.3m, in an effort to balance the books, but Allen said he agrees with many at the club that the subsequent departure of Paul Mitchell, who headed player recruitment under Cook, was a severe loss."
A number of factors there^ contributing to Chesterfield's current situation. Imagine us this summer selling Sercombe, Bennett and losing DC. Failure to replace them (especially DC) and we'd be royally up the creek.
IMO Chesterfield will be back soon enough, as soon as they get their s*** together off the pitch the on the pitch situation will improve. Given their infrastructure and new stadium, it wouldn't surprise me to see them bounce all the way back to League 1 within 3 or 4 seasons. Of course a lot depends on who they get purchased by.

I would like to point out, that the last time we played in the second tier of English football, we were playing at Twerton Park.
A ground is only one element of a successful club. I feel that long term we'll end up as a stable Championship team, with the setup the Al-qadi's are putting in place.
