The keeper looks an excellent prospect. But we are still keeping too many players not of top six quality.
Gaffney is a prime example. Ellis also seems to be slipping back into his old obscure ways lately, despite the fact that over the season he has done better than I thought him capable of.
Ollie Clarke is another who is falling short, and up front we have no aerial threat, or a centre forward who can hold the ball up. We also need another attacking midfielder in the Otzumer mould.

I thought next season was all about "less players but better quality"?

Ollie Clarke is another who is falling short, and up front we have no aerial threat, or a centre forward who can hold the ball up. We also need another attacking midfielder in the Otzumer mould. Ellis flogged himself across the pitch all season for the cause, often doing the work of two people. No surprise that he lost a bit of spark at the end of the season. Ollie played through injury for a large part of the season. I hope that he can recover his best form as we don’t have any other midfielder who can do what he does and he’s vital to the balance of the side. Must be hard to know if he will be back to full fitness/form so it may be prudent to try and sign a player with the same qualities. But he shouldn’t be written off, in my opinion. Gaffers hasn’t done enough in the second half of the season. At his best he can do a good job for us but does he quite have enough quality? Difficult calls to be made. Glad I don’t have to make them!

Alfie Kilgour signed as well, with him Mayenese, Broadbent & Ben Morgan all under contract the CB position looks promising over the next few seasons.

We are going full footballer manager mode.
You aren't given any money by owners because they're new and no matter what you've achieved don't trust you until you're making them gazillions, so you try and develop every young lad that comes through your youth, 1/2 will be worldies, 2/3 will be squad level to the division you're in, and the rest you play but really should be at Weston super mare and Eastleigh. Hopefully one of your scouts will pick up some unknown star from turkey or Montenegro.
I'm not doubting that some of these lads will make the grade, in today's day and age if 3/4 youth products are in the first team squad then it's happy days, however if we really want to succeed and have a top 6 squad, we need to pay the money and get the quality players in to not just improve the squad but push those youngsters to want to achieve more and be better than the players they should be determined to replace.
