you are of the opinion, someone is sorting the drainage and they may, or may not come back to do the seeding of the pitch
What the actual..
As CGH suggests why are you choosing to ignore the "facts" on this topic? what are the facts. The pitch is being done by someone, or are we just going to play on sand?

chairman Steve Hamer has confirmed that Rovers will be wasting no time in seeing to the pitch.
“Mercifully, our playing area gets torn up on Monday and a new fibre pitch will be laid giving us an unsurpassed playing surface for the first time at the Memorial Stadium in readiness for next season,” said Hamer.

As we are now getting a new "Hybrid" pitch which will be "Wembley Like", i wonder how much this is costing the club ?A little research shows the Wembley pitch cost over £250,000 in 2010 so that's a good start point Other estimates have been in the £300,000 to £500,000 for other types of pitch Are these the actions of a Owner that wants out ? As PH57 suggests this is all what's announced on the OS: "Contractors M J Abbott were on site at the Mem to oversee the initial phase of work, which began on Monday. Contract Manager, Nathan George, spoke with Club to detail how the process will work, which includes enhancing the drainage and liaising with the ground staff to ensure the surface is ready for reseeding in a few weeks time" There's no mention of any expensive pitch being laid? Did you watch the video ?

Correct and that's also now been further confirmed by the contracts manager for the firm doing the work in the you tube interview on the clubs channel last week.

and a new fibre pitch will be laid
not quite right, I believe. The fibres are a solidifying layer that the grass roots can grow into, making the playing surface harder wearing. It isn't a 4G pitch (mix of plastic fibres and grass - a la Wembley)

I was more concerned with the notion/opinion that the contractors were doing drainage work and may f**k off

There were 2 very good interviews released by the club and linked here explaining exactly what's happening.
Some embarrassing "opinions" and "facts" here!!!

I think you'll find that those videos are just propaganda, and the people in them weren't real Project Managers or Groundsmen, they were just actors hired by the club to make it seem like they were doing something. The 'Corridors of Power' do not lie, and if they are saying it's all turning to poo, then we have no choice but to believe the great 'Uphisarseincider' and all those others luckily enough to be told the inner workings of the club first hand. #UTG

Waq & Hani are not pursuing a new ground, they have been open and said the UWE deal is dead and that sometime in the future, they propose / hope to refurbish the MEM. As I understand it their business (DWAYNE SPORTS ?) bought the club / debt, making it easy to sell on. Not sure they have actually put any of their own money into club, as they rarely talk to the supporters and do not say much when they do. And as for the pitch, I am of the opinion a contractor is currently correcting the drainage, with a view to coming back in a few weeks time to undertake over-seeding. Tbh I quite like our **** ground; although, I am disappointed when I remember how Swansea City and particularly Brighton & Hove Albion were supposed to be going out of business one minute and the next thing they are both playing in the premiership in brand spanking new grounds. Unfortunately, although I hope I am proved wrong, I cannot see Waq & Hani delivering anything more than a "make do and mend" solution. So how do you think the creditors were paid off (Ex Directors, loan Company, etc) in order for them to own the Club? and secondly, they talk to the supporters they trust not to blab and criticise and spread rumours - feeling left out are you?

Did you watch the video ? No, I just assumed the OS article would state what's actually being done? I still don't really get what the obsession is with having a perfect pitch when our home form is so good compared to our away form. Although we were given a load of BS last summer about having a fantastic pitch this season then left Bob the Builder in charge!

Yes, the ex Directors have now been paid off LESS an amount held back to pay the Buckingham Group for the work that they did, but then you would know that.

As I understand it, the whole debt from paying off Ex directors etc. .. along with the assets, the MEM, a field at Alomondsbury, etc. ... sits with Dwayne Sports, Waq and Hani et el I guess are directors, their exposure is quite rightly protected through the limited company, you are of course correct, if and when the club is sold on, they would reap any profits. I do not feel left out, as mentioned I quite like the old MEM; will Waq & Hani develop the MEM only time will tell, lets hope so, not going to get too excited, after all we have only been waiting for a new ground since 86, long before the latest owners rolled into town. I guess you are correct, if there is nothing to say, best keep quite.

That is when Eastville was sold to the Stevens family as Greyhound racing company Bristol Stadium ltd?

Happy to be corrected but I thought Ian Stevens was just the General Manager of BS not the owner the family involved was the Osbourne's (not Ozzy's mob!)

Think Rovers have been waiting since 1941/42? to own a stadium . That is when Eastville was sold to the Stevens family as Greyhound racing company Bristol Stadium ltd? Pretty sure we owned the Mem last time I checked? Happy to be corrected but I thought Ian Stevens was just the General Manager of BS not the owner the family involved was the Osbourne's (not Ozzy's mob!) In fact the Eastville estate was owned by the Stevens family. They lived at Clapton Farm just outside Portishead. The farm estate is massive, covering many acres of land. The head of the family was Con Stevens, and in the latter years of Eastville stadiums existence the old main, or North stand was named after him. Clarke Osbourne was an employee, who's job was originally managing the Eastville market, held, I believe, on a Friday and Monday. Rovers time at Eastville became threatened when the Muller Road car park was developed into the Tesco store, and the old coal gas land was earmarked for retail development. Fortunately for the owners the South stand mysteriously burnt down and Rovers were effectively on their way. From the Tesco era Clarke Osbourne came to the fore with regard to the stadium site development, and became the leading executive. It is alleged that the eldest son, Ian Stevens, was unsuitable for such high office as a result of a fondness for alcohol and a hedonistic, chaotic lifestyle. As I have carefully pointed out, this is what I have heard was alleged. I'm personally certain that he was and is a model of probriety and sobriety, and one to whom aspiring executives looked up. So, to correct your fundamentally incorrect statement, the Stevens family originally owned the Eastville estate, and Clarke Osbourne was a paid employee.

How’s it looking? Has anyone got any pictures? This is definitely a missed PR opportunity as they could have set up a live webcam (premium rate obviously) and a six inch ruler for comparison as it grows. 😉
