Scunthorpe’s support is pathetic! How the hell do they have a bigger playing budget than we do! Wealthy owner just like brentford, city, preston, fulham blah blah Bournemouth get 10,000 in the premier league but there wage budget is about £35,000,000 more than ours. I'm glad Tramere Rovers are back in the football league. That's where all the Rovers should be playing. I'm gobsmacked at the gates to these games. No glory hunters at Scunthorpe Utd with just 6591 attendance for a playoff semi final game. Even worst is the absolutely dismal Tranmere Rovers gate at the Wembley final just 16306 including Boreham Woods fans. Where do all the glory hunters go when their team hits a dark place. At least the glory hunters at the Gas turn up at 30000+ whenever we have reached a Cardiff/London Final. I'm sure as and when the stadium is upgraded and capacity is increased that the Gas home gates will reach a decent 10000+ average with regular 15000+ for certain games UTG

I knew someone who could rarely get out of the home(I wont go into detail) but she managed to to get to Cardiff to watch her favorite team before she died, was she what you would call a "glory hunter"?

Can't really compare with us.

James Norwood playing for Tranmere. Pretty sure it was Ollie Norburn who did not much for us before going to other places, Plymouth and Guisely. UTG! Norwood and Norburn play for Tranmere. Apologies. Didn’t realise it was the same Norburn.😪 UTG!

Bristol Rovers took 35000+ to the Millenium and Wembley Stadium in the same season. Tranmere have a similar history to the GAS if not slightly better. They have a fairly new 17000 all seater stadium and in the 1990's they played 4 finals at Wembley in just over one year and have until recently had a better records at tier 2 in the football league. They have also played in the League Cup Final. Like us they have never been in the top tier. So where have all their fans gone?

Would suggest a few Tranmere fans have given up on them since they have been non league and are travelling the six miles to watch Liverpool or Everton.

Looking at the Conference orNational League next season shows a huge turn around of clubs. Only 7 teams are left from when we were there and that includes Braintree who’ve gone out and come back for next season. And it looks like there’s a strong chance that Martin Allen is going to be heading up Chesterfield next season. UTG!

'Play off final today lads, get into them early on' Down to 10 after 40 seconds 😂 There but for the grace of God.....we got away with one with Will Puddy. No, it was the correct decision by the laws of the game

First world problems eh?!
Its a final to get back into the league ffs, something you would sell your grannies mobility scooter to get there.
If they didn't go for the reasons you mention then they are a insult to the word 'supporter' imo.

Don't get me wrong, I would most definitely have gone if it were me, but they are legitimate reasons for some people. If you're skint, could you afford 2 Wembley trips and travel and accommodation costs, 2 years running (plus didn't they get to the FA Trophy final last year or the year before?). Some people may not have been able to afford it, some may have not been able to get childcare, who knows?

I get that, but it's still only once a year. You beg, borrow or steal to watch those sorts of games.
I even cut my holiday in Dubai short to watch Rovers v Grimsby in that final..now that's commitment

Seriously, who worries about spending £100(?) to go to a Wembley final as 12 months before they spend a similar amount to watch a game? Plus playing BW was virtually a free pass into the FL, unlike FGR last May.

Grimsby only took about 14,000 to Wembley against us, and they have a decent history much like ours. But they had been in non-league for seven(?) years or so.
Tranmere had three years in the Conference.
These things grind away at the confidence of the fans and they give up hope.
I think if we had stayed down there for five years, our home attendances would have slipped to about 4,000, if that, and we might not have seen much above 15,000 at Wembley.
DC saved us in so many ways.
