Someone mentioned Olufela Olomola on another thread, a Southampton forward who was on loan at Yeovil and scored 7 in 21 this season. That would fit with the DC modus operandi of getting in someone who is showing potential that he thinks he could develop further. He’s not the tallest at 5’ 7”, but then size isn’t everything....allegedly. 😉

I watched Yeovil one game last season and though they looked a very good team going forward, but definseively they were awful. He looks out of contract in the summer. Let the rumour mill commence!!

The transfer window closes on the 9th of August from now on so you might see clubs doing their business earlier on in the transfer window as compared to previously. Sercombe was signed in early may last year so one can hope for some early business this season too.

A few years ago I watched a Youth game @ the Mem v Bournemouth. Their young striker was clearly the best player on the pitch. Strong, direct and skilful. His name is Sam Surridge and Yeovil had him on loan this season. If he has continued to progress he would certainly be worth a look.

DC is waiting for after the world cup to sign players as they need to pass a medical, which they cant do while the are in Russia Hopefully, DC makes early signings so they can start gelling together straight away when they all return for pre-season. Also, I would be delighted if we make an early statement to the rest of the league by signing a striker who is known for scoring goals for fun in this league. Not a striker whose record of scoring is less than 10 a season. We need a 20 goal striker.

There are illegidly 4 championship clubs looking at Ellis - Forest, Ipswich, Brentford and Preston, Leeds have also been mentioned.
We've apparently enquired about Eisa
We're also apparently looking at Free Agent winger Kal Naismith who just left Portsmouth.
All twitter sources - so potentially minimal credibility
But Naismith and Telford would be good opening week signings
The world cup is also around the corner and there tends to to be much transfer activity through that period, so I personally wouldn't be expecting much business early on

Birmingham were another club to have scouted him.

Although does the WC really effect transfers at Div 1 & 2 level that much. Naismith rejected a new contract at Pompey, can we really outbid them for one of their first team regulars last season, unless former team mate Bennett as really sold the club to him?

When the 12 week transfer window opens on Thursday, do we expect any signings early doors or a late rush at the end.... I think DC may have a couple lined up but depends on how big his bottom 6 budget is this year The "bottom" six budget will unfortunately be a massive stumbling block when it comes to signing any early quality. Do not expect any "day 1" big ticket signings; Rovers normal strategy is to wait until every other club has had first dips, then DC tries to mop up some late loan signings. To be fair to DC, he has already said, he will be using his home grown under 23 talent next season, which I think is really a sensible way forward.

How much would be an acceptable offer for Ellis be ? £5m ? I'd bite your hand off for £5m. We could assemble a Championship (promotion to) standard squad with that quite easily IMO.

We signed Sercombe before the end of May last season, which was probably in the pipeline for a while given his falling out with the manager at Oxford. Nevertheless surely that was a big ticket signing. We also signed Smith and Slocombe in early July and Broadbent in mid-July, so last summer we didn’t do our business too late in my opinion. Agree about the U23s. Should mean less loan signings and that we don’t need too big a first team squad for the foreseeable future, too.
