Eastville Stadium was always owned by the Bristol Stadium company, who's main shareholders were always the Stevens family. Just the £ signs seems to have decided the change in direction from sports stadium to retail development. Who's to say the UWE wouldn't sooner have an extended Abby Wood retail park on their own land in 25/50 years, when our lease came up for renewal? Retail is dead now look at the high street and out of town shops closed down Have you been to Abby Wood lately? It's gone form a closed down TJ Hughes to whole retail park of shops and food outlet just nonsense to say shops there are closing down, but anything could happen in 25/50 years.

Ffs Waq has clearly told us BRFC have walked away from any potential agreement with the UWE. Waq says he intends, at some stage in the future ("evolution strategy"), on a piecemeal basis, to refurbish the MEM; therefore, why do people still talk about building a stadium at the UWE ? Keep up he then did an interview saying he was looking at all the options. As far as the UWE fans will still talk about until the UWE submit alternative plans, as it's hard to believe a deal can't be done.

Because some think that a very rich American consortium will buy us soon and build us a 50,000 covered stadium with parking for 10,000 cars pigs are out flying again How did you know that I am meeting the owner of the New York Mets Wednesday week when they play the Baltimore Orioles. I have a signed BRFC shirt and program, supplied by BRFC, to aid the path for any investment.

Except we know that redoing the Mem will never happen. Why? Well, 12 weeks ago we were told that plans would be submitted for the training ground. Were they? No. We were told the club would discuss with Bristol CC how to redevelop the Mem. As of a short while ago, the club hadn't even approached the Council in regard to any redevelopment. That from a member of the planning department. Thats why the UWE keeps getting discussed, because the Mem will never be redeveloped.

The only person pushing a stadium for Rovers at the University retires on Thursday so I think it's done for us lads. This is really funny. BM is a totally Higgs man. He has no empathy with either the AQ's or anyone else. If anything it will help to further any project.

The statement at the time stated either new build or redevelopment. I've heard nothing to suggest it would definitely be piecemeal, although the most practical option is stand by stand. The statement read "Dwane Sports is disappointed to announce that its discussions with UWE regarding a potential stadium development for the Club have been brought to a close as the parties were unable to agree acceptable terms. We will now immediately turn our attention to exploring all other opportunities for a new stadium or for a substantive redevelopment of the Memorial Stadium, whilst at the same time continuing to develop the new Colony training ground. We would like to thank the Club's supporters for your continuing patience as we continue to work on this very important project."

I've accepted the uwe deal is dead. The board don't on the face of it all have the ambition or willingness to build a new stadium. We got a tent.

The UWE was the only bit of land big enough and close enough to build a stadium for us. Everywhere else is down to houses, mainly because people are coming here from London by there thousands. Can anyone honestly think of anywhere within easy reach where there is land big enough to build a stadium? No, neither can I

We are all entitled to our own opinions and views, I thought that was the purpose of a forum. You appear to think that there is 100%, no possibility that this could happen. I respect your opinion even if I do not agree with it.

How big do you think they are? Its also big big enough for a Rugby club to build one there. Oh, hang on, someone did. If our current owners can't strike a deal, why don't they disclose what the problem is? All they've said as far as I recall, is that UWE didn't respond by an arbitrary date that they imposed. New owners please.
