I don’t think he said anything controversial. Ollie obviously knows the ins and outs of what’s gone on. What he said was that from a people perspective “the current board have a bone to pick with me about the way IH was treated because he gave 25 years loyal service and worked his guts out for the club” He said we wouldn’t say never to coming back but he probably wouldn’t because it wouldn’t be the same. When he made his less than oblique references to the removal of Ian Holtby, he inferred that he knew what had happened and his tone was extremely hostile towards the owners. As I doubt very much if the club have told him anything he must have got his information from Holtby. If, as Whoosh has said, Holtby and the club signed a confidentiality agreement, then Holtby has breached that agreement by confiding into the biggest blabber mouth in football. I maintain there was no need for Ollie to run off at the mouth, he could have thanked Holtby for arranging the event and left it at that. He took obvious, and mischievous delight in stating he had only attended to support "Holts" and follow up with a criticism of the club. Oldgas that is correct but I saw Ollies mini rant as a criticism of the way IH left and how the club handled it. He kept mentioning how Rovers were always a people club. Not sure what he expected really, a testimonial? Football and football clubs have changed. Maybe Ollie is crying out for the “good ole days” I’m afraid they are gone.

1. I wouldn't want Holloway back at the club. He is not the "God" that some people think he is. Secondly I don't think there is anyone out there who hasn't got and idea about why Ian Holtby left. He is a Rovers legend and should be respected as such, although I tend to agree that he shouldn't get the big job again on the basis of never go back. And I for one have no idea why Ian Holtby left. Genuinely. Don't really need to know either!

I see what you mean, but I still feel that Ollie lessened the occasion with his rant.
He has just been unceremoniously dumped by QPR, another club he claims to love as their No 1 fan.
I think Mario has hit the nail on the head. Ollie USED to be a half decent manager, now he's just another journeyman.
I also seem to recall the way he relished telling us of his sacking a woman who worked at QPR because he didn't like her demeanour. You have to wonder what right he thinks he has to comment on Rovers dispensing with the services of an employee; whether he was a mate or not.
It was a good and enjoyable evening, it's just a shame he let his emotions get the better of him.
By the way, did anyone hear any mention of who the new shirt sponsors are likely to be?

Also worth mentioning I found his comments about his departure from Plymouth interesting. Basically saying the fans don’t and can’t know the real reason for his sacking due to a non disclosure agreement and that they give him grief without knowing the full story.

But isn't that just Ollie and what makes him what he's is. Ollie speaks his mind I don't think it's scripted and there are two sides to every story. I wish I had been there I honestly did not know it was on.

Legend or not, if he’s siding with Holtby after his removal from the club, and slagging off the current board because of it, he can jog on, and not bother coming back.

If Ian Holtby arranged the evening, he should have been thanked quite rightly for doing it, and that should be it.
He might be a mate of Holloway or whatever, but a bit of professionalism, tact and respect for the guests wouldnt have gone a miss

The shirt sponsorship wasn't part of the 1883 Club draw this year. I believe the club must have found sponsors outside of that, and I wondered if anyone at the event had heard who the new sponsors are. They need to get a move on so the shirts can be designed and produced. The season kicks off on 4th August and they need to get them on sale at least by the fun day, if there is one this year.

Ah yes you are of course correct. Let’s see what Tom Gorringe has managed to land Oldgas.

I know it's unrealistic and would cost the club in lost revenue, but I'd love to see no sponsor name on the shirt. I'd buy it then!
