Most of these grounds and/or stands are paid for with some sort of outside investment and/or mixed use development. Yet the Al Qadis are expected to just whip out a plan for the Mem or a new site Forgive me if I’m wrong (memory not what it was) but didn’t WAQ state a while back that he had appointed a team to oversee the development of the Mem? People who had previously been involved in many redevelopments I’m no architect but would have thought at lease some form of plan would have been unveiled by now rather than just a new “tent” being put up Possibly, but as discussed elsewhere, look at the timescales elapsed with other projects. Plymouth, Exeter, Wimbledon etc. They go back over quite a few years. Hell even at Rovers. UWE was worked on behind the scenes for 2 years before it was announced in public

My guess is that the owners still don't have funding for the project or they are torn between options regarding the scale and location of the infrastructure they intend to build and are still weighing up the possible options. Either way, some clarity needs to be provided in the coming months to satisfy the majority of fans. There is going to be no quick fixes for this, I accept that its probably going to be a long and drawn out process but I just want to be reassured that they owners still intend to build new facilities and that we have gone some way to doing so with either plans or options on the table being made available to fans. There needs to be some communication.

I think that would be a waste of time, they couldn’t even sell 7.5k(ish) tickets for their home semi final against Rotherham. Absolutely shocking support.

However he then suggested later he was considering all the options.

It wasn’t even as if they were close to selling out. There was about 5000 home fans there out of a possible 7500ish tickets. That really is poor for a League One playoff.

Perhaps this was a challenge too far, or perhaps they are still beavering away.

Just caught sight of the latest Bath Chronicle cover and it looks like Bath City’s proposed redevelopment has hit the NIMBY barrier. They quote a “campaigner” and if I remember correctly use words like “totally unacceptable”. It makes you wonder what some people expect when they live next to an established sports stadium. There is a big clue that it’s not a rural idyll as there are four highly visible floodlight towers. I appreciate that not everyone gets to choose where they live, but even so you have to be realistic about the periodic levels of disruption. Good luck to the Romans, it’s going to be a long hard slog!

AFL architects I believe, must say some of their projects are very impressive. They've recently designed a stadium to be built as part of Turkey's Euro 2024 bid and have designed the main stand at Chelsea amongst other major projects. www.afl-uk.com/

Chelsea have put their new stadium plans on hold citing an "unfavourable investment climate".
Are we having the same issues?
