These seems to be quite a look of "facility envy", but while the Mem cannot compete with the Avon Gorge Hotel, or many large city centre hotels for events, why doesn't the marketing dept try and get more bookings based on what we have?
I have been to several wedding receptions in very poor rooms in tacky venues and surely the Mem is a step up from those.
If we are to be successful we need the stadium to be in use more than 50 days a year.
There must be a prospective market, it is up to the stadium marketing staff to be pro actice and go out and get new business. Small profits at loads of events is better than no use at all.
Perhaps our venue has been used as an excuse for average staff and we need to get better people to help move the club forward.
We may not have made loads from the World Cup games but even if only 40 people turned up, we should still expect to manage the potential attendance and make a small profit.

I think Gorringe and his team are already doing this. They have mentioned to us things like outdoor cinema in car park, food festival.
I reckon if you wanted your wedding reception there, you can probably already hire out the Dry Build stand.

Having loads of events doesn't really work in my opinion, you need staff for them and if something comes up like bad weather or a clashing event you make a loss. A few well run and foolproof events is much better. I like the food fest idea for instance as long as it's under cover.

Obviously not intentionally knocking the staff but I think this is the reason. For years Kerry has been the only one in the commercial team, even though she does a fantastic job, why not invest more resources in that in the past? Now it seems we have and its starting to pay off.
