Rumours on twitter of Rory is set to sign for Salford city for £70,000 and £3000 a week wages.... Pretty sure that’s what we paid for him but surprised to see him drop down that far? But if true I guess not many clubs willing to pay that kinda money in league 1 or 2

Could happen, Salford are managed by Graham Alexander who has been given money to get them to the football league, they have signed Nathan Pond from Fleetwood and some other league 1 players. Personally I would like to keep him but do not see him as a regular starter. 70 grand is a good offer for someone not a prolific scorer

They can have him for free, the only impact sub who has a negative impact on the team in the country.

Gaffney has been a good player for us up until the last 1/4 of a season. It'll be sad to see him go if he does go but I think it would be in the interest of everyone as I can't see him getting much game time this season if Darrell brings in a few new attacking players.

If this is the tweet then it's about as reliable as Donald Trump at a G7 meeting:

Currently sunning myself in Majorca. I will drive him there to sign a contract as soon as I return. Unless he has already done it by then, of course.

Best of luck to Gaffney, he certainly needs a new challenge elsewhere. He tries hard but IMO not a prolific goal scorer capable of firing BRFC into the championship.

Gaffers is better than any striker from Will Hoskins up to Matty Taylor. And he fits in better if you are classing JJoT as a striker. If he wants to go, good luck to him, but if you had to choose between keeping him or Nichols?

Gaffney right now is as good as he’s ever going to get, which isn’t good enough to get us into the top 6 of L1, IMO. Nichols obviously had a horrendous season last season, but I still think there’s a good player in there. Whether we see it here or not is another matter, but the potential in him and his age would lean me towards keeping him over Gaffney.

What on earth did you see that makes you think there is a good player in there?? The only positive to having Nichols in the side last year was one less shirt to wash. It was literally like watching us play with 10 men most of last season.

I saw flashes from him and attempts to pull off certain passes etc which told me that he has a decent football brain, but unfortunately his lack of confidence meant he was never able to string a decent performance together for us. And what struck me is that he didn’t really miss many good chances, because he was never in the position to have chances. So either he just isn’t a goalscorer who naturally gets into goalscoring positions, or he didn’t fit into how the team was set up last season. I’m choosing to believe the optimistic viewpoint atm!
