Intersting language from Mcinnes, a case of do as I say, don't do as I do, or at least have done.

Shows how little they pay in Scotland. 4k a week at a club that is steadily going places.

I always hate to guess, but imagine not many of our own are on 4k. Salford definitely showing some intent..can't blame Rooney for moving for that sort of money.

Here's a list. A bit out of date, but probably gives a decent idea: Interesting the fourth tier had barely moved in relation to average pay.

You don’t think the likes, of sercombe and Craig, aren’t on 4K Really?? Yes, really. The average at this level two years ago was about £1,400 (I think), I'm not sure it has risen significantly in 2 years, so it would be a surprise to me if those players were on as much as that.

I heard that when Taylor signed his 6 month contract before he left he was on 4 grand a week and was our highest earner. I’d imagine most of our players are on somewhere between a grand and 3 a week. Perhaps long serving / top players for example Sercs/ lines are on 3 grand but I doubt there’s any on what we paid Taylor currently. If we can push on stay around top six and keep bringing in crowds of 10,000 plus I wouldn’t be surprised if we started paying others around 4 grand but for now I hope we’re not. Evolution isn’t it.

Got to agree with Pirate - doubt if any are currently on that sort of money but as time passes I’m sure someone will be! Absolute madness really and in most cases totally unsustainable level of wages.

I reckon Sercombe is probably on around 2.5/3k
Am I right in thinking we made Taylor our highest ever paid player? Previously it was Lambert on around 5/6k no?

All those Man U players and, I believe, a wealthy business man are funding Salford City. People like that usually want a return on their investment, and I struggle to see how they will achieve that.
The reason I say that is because the club's main source of income will be gate money. Traditionally Salford got perhaps a couple of hundred through the gates. I don't know what their gates are now, but I very much doubt they will cover the wages of Gaffney and this Rooney bloke, let alone the rest of the squad. Plus the fact they will become known as a club that pays good money, and agents will up their demands for their clients services once Salford come calling. Even if they make it to the EFL, it's not as if they're operating in an area that's devoid of football, I'm sure that anyone interested in football around there probably go to City or United already.
The point I'm trying to make is that I see this as unsustainable. If we're making an annual loss, how will this club ever succeed when they're surrounded by so many established premier and EFL teams? Football kudos doesn't come cheap these days.

I know it was very short term but didn't we pay Andy Rammell £8000 a week in the early 2000's in our successful battle against dropping out of the league and he only had one good leg. I did though enjoy his winner up at Oxford which more or less made us safe.

TBH I don't think any of us have a clue what Lambert was on, not really sure we could have afforded £300K a year when the whole salary budget was probably only around £2m! The simply fact is that we seem to be paying around mid Div 1 wages, whatever they may be at present.

If the average wage was £1400pw a couple of years ago it's probably gone up a bit since - prem wages have gone up loads in the past couple of years and a bit of that inflation will have filtered down. We have to remember how many home grown and young players will be included in making up that average and a lot of those will be on £300pw or maybe less in the north. It's not too big a leap to estimate we are likely to have a few players in the £3k to £5k pw range. I did hear many years ago that Tillson was on £2k pw when he signed and that was over 25 years ago.
btw Holmes-Dennis is being touted as an imminent signing. If he's coming from Prem League side Huddersfield having previously signed for them in the Championship for a sizeable fee from Charlton what would his wage be?

That Peterborough player who has now gone to Salford, Danny Lloyd was on £1.6k A week. I can't see we're paying players 3 times that! I reckon our highest earner probably is on circa £3k max.
