p.s. we didn't have signs of progress last season statistically - falling from 10th to 13th .Let's hope we turn this round. Statistically no, but I think there was plenty to be encouraged by last season, particularly on the back of losing our top scorer yet again. The core of the team now has a look of strength that perhaps it didn't have before (Slocombe, Lockyer, Craig, Lines, Sercombe, Bennett, Harrison) and there's plenty of potential in some of the younger or less experienced players too (Broadbent, Menayese and 2 or 3 development squad players who made appearances). Personally I'd like us to play a similar style of passing football that we saw in some of the later home games last season (Wigan springs to mind) and hopefully if we get the pitch right this summer we will be able to provide a similar level of entertainment.

But unless DC picks up a gem at Poundland, that striker may be out of our price bracket.

Never write off your chances before the season starts, no matter where you are in the league you need to show ambition. Sure we don’t have the biggest budget by any stretch of the imagination but with a bit of gumption and turning your home stadium into a fortress anything is possible, just ask Shrewsbury.

I'm not writing us off as you're absolutely right, anything is possible. 1990 taught us that. But I am realistic about our chances and think that we shouldn't be downbeat if we finish solidly mid table again.
