Absolutely. Not to mention Joao Moutinho, who is a class player. Signed for just £5M. Terrible that we think of that fee as "just £5 mil" these days. Very true.

Why did Wolves let Barry Douglas go? Don't know much about him but noticed he was top of the charts for assists in the championship last season. Quality signing for Leeds. Not sure why Wolves let him go, they've brought in Jonny Castro who is decent, but I would've still kept Douglas as an option in the squad.

Pretty sure a pundit, Merson, Stelling, that sort, said a year or so ago, that any player who has even a minimum 1 year contract with a Premiership Club, is a millionaire. Through signing on fee, sponsorship and salary. I can remember Trevor Francis being the first £1 mil player and everyone gasping at Alan Shearer being on £20k a week. It's gone too far.

Wolves have got some ridiculously talented players in their squad and I could easily see Ruben Neves being one of the better performing central midfielders in the Prem this season. This is a lad who was captaining Porto in the Champions League at the age of 19. Diego Jota is also a player I rate massively and if he continues his form of last season into the Prem he will be a big star. and Mouhtino (?). Wolves have, on paper, some cracking players. I can see both Wolves and Fulham surviving comfortably in the Prem, which raises the question, which of the 'traditional prem clubs' will go down? Please, please let it be Chelsea

I think Newcastle are going to struggle along with Southampton. I've got a sneaking feeling that Everton and West Ham will be up there this year, certainly in the top 6. I've watched a bit of Southampton in pre-season and they looked very poor. People will say it's only pre-season, but I wasn't impressed at all. Alex McCarthy made a few changers in goal and I really hope they start Angus Gunn ahead of him because I really feel he could be a future England number 1. Southampton have done brilliantly with their production line over the last decade or so, Walcott, Bale, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Lallana, Luke Shaw etc And unearthed Gems that they sold for huge profit, i.e Schneiderlin, Lovren, Clyne, Van Dijk. But sooner or later that production line will dry up, and if you keep selling your best players every season trying to replace them all the time is a thankless task. They're definitely my favourites to go down. Agree about Angus Gunn.

Newcastle not spent a lot but some shrewd business with the little they have spent. Whilst, Benitez is there, they'll be ok. Southampton, I agree might struggle. Don't rate Mark Hughes. Expect them to be in the scrap near the bottom. West Ham top 6?! Who are they going to replace?! Can't see that. Everton look strong. Think they will be top half definitely. Maybe best of the rest? Think Marco Silva is a top appointment. Seem to have a ridiculous abundance of wingers though!

Much though I hate Man U and everything to do with them, Alex Ferguson was asked about Rooneys lack luster performances after a few games when he was in charge, he replied "how do you motivate a player on £300k per week?". Worlds gone mad. £300k a week? That's obscene.

Man City have a youngster who has never played a minute in the Prem earning £25,000 per week. Ridiculous. Killing football. Not going to happen and probably difficult to implement, but there should be some sort of cap on how much a player under say 21 can earn. Otherwise some will lose motivation too quick.

Not just obscene but....I just can’t think of word for it right now. Obscene somehow seems inadequate....

Obviously with Benitez they'll be hard to beat but scoring goals is going to be their problem. In regards to West Ham they've made some good signings, Felipe Anderson, Issa Diop, Yarmalenko and if they can keep Wilshire fit then they've got a class player there. My top 4 is City, Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal with Spurs dropping out, and can honestly see Everton and West Ham finishing above Spurs. Im really looking forward to this Premier League season and IMO will be the most competitive in years.

As long as fans keep coughing up £££s for Sky sports etc, it will continue I'm not into this trend of blaming it all on Sky. First off, Sky have been fantastic. Us old 'uns remember the days when the only live games you saw on tv were the FA Cup Final and possibly one England game a year ! We never saw England play a cricket Test match overseas, nor did we see the British Lions play. Sky changed all of that. Most of the blame should go to the politicians who decided that carving the football up into packages, and then selling those packages to the highest bidder. Do you really think Sky want to pay something like 3 billion a year to show Prem games? But they have to. In the meantime, the cost of games for the punter is rising due to the multiple channels that now can show games. Believe me, Sky really don't want to pay so much, but they have been forced to by the authorities. Don't blame Sky, blame those that have forced the price up! Also, even though there are Sky Germany, Sky Italy and Sky Spain, Sky do not pay huge money to the Spanish, Italian or German clubs, but clubs in those countries still pay huge wages!
