Cant help but feel we are going to be adopting the 3-5-2 formation this coming season, with so many talented CM's on the books it would be silly not to, especially with the addition of Upson, anybody who has seen him play knows that he controls and dictates the pace of the match, lined up along side Sercombe and Lines we would have a hell of a lot of creativity out there, all we need now is a strong little striker that gets in behind and in the right areas, i pray that man will be Telford but i wouldnt be surprised if it isnt

After Gaffney left i was confused. But then hopefully the moon did not have the time to make a full turn and the first thing done is ad a ginger in the team. No harm is done. Welcome Theo !

You can get our three most talented CMs (Sercombe, Lines & Upson) into a 433 and still play our best wide men.

Squad looking like its starting to take shape - excellent stuff!
A LB, 2 strikers and GK (optional) would really see this team into the play offs IMO

I'm normally a 442 fan and a midfield of Bennett, Sercombe, Upson and Rodman would be interesting.
With Matthews, Lines, Clarke, Sinclair and Mensah as backup and competition I think we have a very strong midfield now.
Hope we get the left backs and strikers in soon and then roll on August.

Just looking at other posts suggesting different formations and it shows what a good solid midfield we have with added attacking options, sercombe , Bennett, upson , lines , Matthews , Sinclair , Clarke , rodman , mensah. I think another left back / lwb and a striker or two and we have ourselves a very strong looking team.

I was drawn to this part of the press release, referencing the Development Squad and that Portsmouth didn't have one.
"Speaking about the addition of Theo to his squad, Manager Darrell Clarke added, “Theo is an exciting prospect, that was released by Portsmouth as they don’t have an under-23 setup.
“Our Development Squad was created to give players a chance to forge their way into the first-team and Theo will get a chance to impress here.” "

New Defensive Coach now, too.
We are delighted to be able to announce the appointment of Graham Coughlan as our new Defensive Coach.
Graham’s most recent position was as first team coach at Southend United and prior to that, he enjoyed a distinguished playing career, most notably with Plymouth Argyle and Sheffield Wednesday.
The Dublin born defender’s career took in some 500 appearances, in all competitions, for a number of clubs.
Graham was with Southend, as a player and a coach, from August 2010 until January of this year and is relishing the opportunity to be involved in the game again as a member of Rovers’ backroom team.
Speaking about the appointment of Coughlan as part of his backroom staff, Manager Darrell Clarke added; "Graham is someone that I have met a number of times over the summer and we are pleased that he’s now on board heading into the new season.
"I have been looking for someone to fill the position that was vacant since Steve Yates departed and I believe that Graham ticks all the boxes in that respect.
"Graham has a lot of experience in this division and I’m looking forward to working with him going forward."

And so who does everyone speculate who this striker coming this week will be. It would be brilliant if it's some one completely off the radar of this site that is a known prolific striker or someone on the up that DC has identified and goes straight into the first team squad or do people think it's bound to be Telford ??

I'm not saying it is, but SSN are reporting that Barnet have accepted a bid from an unnamed club for striker John Akinde.
