I usually like assessing all the signings pre season and picking a team to bet in each league for a bit of fun. Usually a team screams out at me but struggling to see one at the moment, let's not forget the window closes before the start of August this season, so I would have liked a bit more clarity at this stage. Anyone have any pre season predictions? Odds are below, where does the value lie? A bit of a reasoning to go with your predicition would be nice www.oddschecker.com/football/english/league-1/winnerpirate maybe a thread for you with your vast knowledge of players?

Wycombe Don't think it'll be as easy as people are saying for Sunderland. Think Luton will be up there. Rovers, right now lower-mid table, a striker or two, and a left back I can see us pushing for a playoff spot.

It certainly won't be easy for Sunderland and they need to improve their squad before the season starts, especially up front, but with players like Watmore, Honeyman and McGeady they could be there or thereabouts. Friendly defeat at Darlington exposed the shortcomings of Sunderland's squad, says Jack Ross www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/friendly-defeat-darlington-exposed-shortcomings-14892770I don't think there really is a standout side this season and I had trouble picking the top 6 positions.

I dont think any of the relegated championship teams will finish in the top half of league 1 and burton will probably get relegated. I also believe luton will make the play-offs and possibly coventry as well. With rovers im a bit worried about our striker options and losing ellis and we will need to sign a left-back.

Very bold predictions, especially about Burton. I think Burton should be fine with Nigel Clough in charge and he will have them competitive in my opinion. Liam Boyce should have goals in him at this level, having scored 48 goals in 99 games in the Scottish Prem previously. I quite fancy Barnsley with players like Jason McCarthy, Liam Lindsay, George Moncur, Brad Potts, Cameron McGeehan, Ryan Hedges, Lloyd Isgrove and Kieffer Moore who should all do well at this level.

I know the gap between championship and league one is getting bigger but i really dont fancy barnsley or burton and sunderlands signings have been mediocre in my view. This probably means they will all get promoted and i will eat humble pie but i doubt it. For me there is a window for a coventry, luton, rovers, bradford, fleetwood or somebody to grab promotion because the championship leavers are weaker than they will be in future.

This I do agree with to a certain extent. I think League One is wide open this season and, like I said before, I don't think there are any outstanding sides. I think it is going to be very competitive and even division this year with any of 16 or 17 teams that could potentially be in the mix for promotion or the playoffs.

I will be amazed if you are right with your predictions there although I do think the league is a bit more open this year. Luton and Coventry, I think will have decent seasons without going up (think Portsmouth/Plymouth this season maybe). I have a feeling Sunderland are as busy trying to get rid of players as they are bringing them in, and some of that will determine what players they look to bring in.

It's arguably the hardest league in English Football to predict. In the Prem you can say which 5/6 teams will finish near the top and which 2/3 teams have the greatest chance of winning it and in the Championship and League Two, you know that the big spenders will finish somewhere near the top whereas in League One, there will be 16 or 17 teams fancying their chances at having a go at promotion at the start of the season and battle for the playoffs is always notoriously tight.
My predictions:
1: Charlton Athletic 2: Barnsley 3: Portsmouth 4: Scunthorpe United 5: Sunderland 6: Burton Albion 7: Plymouth Argyle 8: Bristol Rovers 9: Luton Town 10: Peterborough United 11: Coventry City 12: Fleetwood Town 13: Bradford City 14: Southend United 15: Shrewsbury Town 16: Accrington Stanley 17: Oxford United 18: Doncaster Rovers 19: Blackpool 20: Rochdale 21: Wycombe Wanderers 22: AFC Wimbledon 23: Walsall 24: Gillingham
Top scorer: Danny Hylton
These are my predictions, no doubt they will be far off what the actual table will look like due to the sheer unpredictable nature of football.

Rovers 7th to 12th at the present time. If the LB position and another striker are very good ones we could be a few places higher. But have you seen my position in the World Cup predictions? So what do I know? UTG!
