We've never been better than average but at least we've got a young team that seem to give a sh** again rather than the same past it old pros like Rooney cluttering up the squad so there are some positives. |

There's no doubt in my opinion that it was a good tournament for England.
We achieved far more than we thought we would. Southgate did a great job in eliminating the fear and freezing on the big day that we've become used to seeing.
Kane and Trippier stood out as successful international players.
I don't think England squads in recent years would have beaten Panama 6-1 or won a penalty shootout against Colombia.
But you can only take things so far.
These are not international stars, or largely even the best players in their own clubs.
We're just not good enough to beat proper teams at the moment, but at least we showed we can beat inferior sides which we used to lose against.
Lots of work to be done still, but I think it showed we are moving in the right direction.

Yes we were made to look a lit better than we are , but it was better than going out at the group stages , nobody expected us to get very far and we exceeded most expectations more by luck than skill but it is a start of a new era and I believe we have the makings of a decent team in years to come

GS should’ve went 4-4-2 after 10 mins of the second half against Croatia it was only a matter of time till they scored. |
