I’m not sure we’ve got it right yet. If I was forced to put money on it I’d say it’s Cole. Because: - the rumour. - and that the player were in for hasn’t come out the other end. People knew about Elis a couple days before it happened. I’d imagine, it would happen elsewhere too. If And DC said privately to a gaschatter at the BBC forum the other day he likes Cole and is interested apparently. Cole is also more than likely available for transfer.

I would have thought he was too expensive after his goal exploits last season. Also why would he move sideways? Hes not out of favour there is he? I don't know how much they would ask for, he wouldn't be on my list anyway. Why would he move sideways? As DC alluded to in the past...money talks. Yeah but we dont have any!

The only time i noticed eaves in the game at the mem was when tony craig took him out of his pocket at the end of the match! Kompany has marked out Rooney before. Rooney wasn’t a bad a player, was he? For me, I saw a 1D team. Craig and kicks took 15 mins to compute that, and then focussed on on Eaves. He was marked out the game, but in part, because Gillingham were so poor. I think he’d be a 7/10 signing. Pirate seems concened about his touch, on this point- id say I disagree. But he’s slower than Elis who wasn’t “electric.” I probably agree with Toney or Cole being the best options. However, I still love the chaplin rumour. Yes he’s a 10- not a 9. But he’s Taylor 2.0. For me. DC knows how to maximise that formula

Yeah, truthfully- Cole “just misses out” on all the criteria I’ve heard. - he’s not taller than 6”2 per wiki. - he’s not a league one player (but his last game was league 1, he’s never played above and he’s most associated with L1) - were after a perm- and rumour is he’s likely taking a loan up. But he’s also very close to each of those: - he’s 6”1 and how accurate is wiki anyway - he’s made his name in league (perhaps thats what was meant) - perhaps the deal changed.

Just imagine him and Bakayoko together!!! Wow.

You name endless obscure players on the wishlist thread but you can only come up with obvious targets outside of our price range as the window approaches. Weird!

We've just banked £750k for Ellis and whatever it was for Gaffney, so I don't think Cole or Toney are necessarily out of our price range. If Scunthorpe think they have a realistic chance of signing Toney on a permanent or a loan, then I don't see why we shouldn't be in the mix for his signature.

Who’s your suggestions then Bluebutterfly? we already know we cant afford the obvious so my suggestion is to do what im sure dc and tommy w are already doing and look beyond the obvious. you know like offering £250k for ellis before the start of last season because you knew he could do better.

But like say southampton we cant afford to spend all the money we receive just like its always been so why think its suddenly different now? Were in debt.

Occasionally you have to speculate to accumulate if the right opportunity arises and I believe that time is now with the potential Cole and Toney deals. They are both young enough and good enough to improve further and makes us money in the future.

Hope we dont sign him and anyway doubt we will pay the fee.

Obviously you are entitled to your opinion, but wanting the likes of Bakayoko and Ryan Taylor over someone like Cole seems ridiculous and very strange to me.

I know nothing about what a good or bad striker is, i can only go by what i see @ the mem and the one player that impressed me recently was Steve Morison @ Millwall. Would love a player of his experience/caliber to join us
