And don't leave it to one or two strikers. We need at least three or four to come in for discussions NOW not bloody Wednesday. We should put ourselves in the driving seat by making offers for say three or four and then pulling out of two instead of the other way around. DC is too slow with any transfer dealings- we have had 3 months for gods sake. be v ery interested to see what Wael has got to say on Saturday. Usual load of c--p I expect although we might be in for a shock because he actually texted GT to get on a show.

Seems to me that we go for one player at a time and that drags on and then if that fails we go on to the next one. I do not accept that business cannot be completed BEFORE the first match.

Weeezord, I can only comment as I see it. How do you see our failure to get two strikers through the door when we lose three very easily!!

We should be after 2 or 3 at the same time and play them against eachother, rather than the agents doing it us!

I think its a sh** situation we are in, but I'm not making huge assumptions based on what I read online.
We don't know the half of it.

With Stevek192 on this. We should be after 2 or 3 at the same time and play them against eachother, rather than the agents doing it us! Shouldn't that be Mr Widdrington's job.....

It's only recently that we have discoverdd that our central defenders can't clear the ball when it's in the air after all. And it was only in the last few weeks that we have come to the conclusion that Nicholls is crap, and Harrison has just left. So the need for a striker has only just cropped up. Don't panic man. Keep the faith. In D.C. we trust. UTG. Come on you Blues.

Three days to sign a No 9 (I've give up hope of two)...it's still doable but feels unlikely at the speed we deal with recruitment.
This is when the recruitment chap shows whether he is worth his wages or steeling a living as DC would say.

On a more positive note remember Lambert signed minutes before the deadline and was, he says, our third choice back then.

It is funny that we have a new head of recruitment and that has been terrible (when it has come to the crunch of getting in a striker). We also took on a new defence coach and the six goals against exeter and posh ...Wow ha.... I have complete faith in the wonderful D.C. and his mates to sort out these problems. Living up near FGR I hear a few things from their ITK or COP brigade. Regardless of gossip & rumours there seems to be a group, club, town, county under the impression that CD is on a considerable wage for that level

Ellis left very quickly (certainly by our standards) and DC clearly does not want to stand in anyone's way to go on to better themselves.
I would turn this on it's head and do the same, go for Div 2 or Conference player who waants to do exactly that, yes it's a gamble but I think with Marcus Stewart coaching them they would have every opportunity to do really well.
This "target man" way of playing bothers me because should we be adopting a new style now the season has started, quick and strong is what we need and we already have a good midfield to back them up.

Why oh why are we so sh** every year without fail at signing players. And players of quality at that? Season after season we are left with the dregs that no one else wants and we turn to loan signings. FFS Rovers, be more f**king positive

I listened to Widdrington's interview when he joined us and all he is,is a middle man between DC and the network of scouts. Why don't the scouts just report to DC directly and do without Widdrington? As for Bakayoko his scoring ratio was about 1 in 10 games which is feeble and not worth spending £150k plus on. Coventry are welcome to him as we cannot afford to accommodate 2 pretenders. He looked as though he had something about him but not enough and perhaps a risk too far. Mensah probably has more to offer and should get a run up top.

Another thing, we sign these players, they come on the website either wearing the shirt or holding it up. DC says he's been watching him for a long time, the new player says what a great club to come to and what happens? F.A!! That's what happens, they either turn out to be total failures, donkeys, a couple of appearences on the subs bench then they're gone
