I'm not over excited to be honest. Having seen him a bit for Shrewsbury last season I can't say I was overly impressed. He might have ended with 14 which is decent but he's not really a replacement for Harrison in my opinion. Maybe signing Harrison mark 2 wasn't realistic but we'll miss what he brougt to the team.
Some Shrews fan are sorry to see him go but others seem glad to see the back of him:
"I’m not bothered he’s going, can’t play as the spearhead as he can’t keep the ball, hence why he wasn’t first choice last year. Nothing has changed, he’s also too moody and takes it out onto the pitch."
And
"I didn't rate him personally. I hope the deal goes though. Very one dimensional player. No pace. If it wasn't for his penalties, his scoring ratio would be pants."
Not sure how many penalties he took last season but the above poster on Shrews forum clearly didn't like him. A lot on there seem to think they need better than him.
He ticks a lot of boxes, good age, right height, L1 experience etc but I'd personally rather we took a chance on Danny Rowe. Thanksfully I'm not the manager and I would suggest DC probably knows best.
Hopefully if he signs Payne will prove me wrong but comments from Shrews like 'No pace' & 'Can't keep the ball' don't fill me with confidence and although he was their top scorer he wasn't first choice.

I'm not over excited to be honest. Having seen him a bit for Shrewsbury last season I can't say I was very impressed. He might have ended with 14 but he's not a patch on Harrison. Some Shrews fan are sorry to see him go but others are glad to see the back of him: "I’m not bothered he’s going, can’t play as the spearhead as he can’t keep the ball, hence why he wasn’t first choice last year. Hopefully if he signs Payne will prove me wrong but I'm equally concerned as I was when we were signing Bakayoko. Comments from Shrews like 'No pace' & 'Can't keep the ball' don't fill me with confidence and although he was their top scorer he wasn't first choice, mainly being used as a sub. You have to wonder why they are demanding big sums for their centre back yet happy to let this guy go. Rumours elsewhere are that they are going to use the money to buy Chaplin from Portsmouth. Meanwhile it looks like Coventry are about to announce Bakayoko's signing. What a merry go round!

Give him 90mins and he may score more.

To be honest he doesn't sound like what we were looking for in a No.9. He sounds more like Gaffney than Harrison, which I guess is okay as long as we sign another No.9 that has strengths that maybe Payne is lacking.

I would rather have spent £300,000 on Doyle than Payne but things are getting desperate

thats good going then if he was top goalscorer and was coming on as a sub. Give him 90mins and he may score more. Maybe but according to Shews fans he wasn't first choice because his all round game wasn't good enough. No pace. Poor technique. Can't keep hold the ball. Wins nothing in the air. Very one dimensional. The list goes on.
To be honest he doesn't sound like what we need at all. His only saving grace is his 14 goals but apparently a lot of those were penalties. I actually think I'd rather have Bakayoko and I'd definitely take Gaffney over Payne and I was never really a big fan of the ginger one.
your wife was very fon d of the ginger one after all he kept his promise to the song we sang to him about letting him shag your wife
