English club has had a 150k bid rejected for him.
Do you reckon that was us, if not he may be worth a look at. 29 goals last season, 9 already this season.
Yes it's Scottish football but he clearly knows where the goal is.

More likely to be Sunderland with their Scottish manager I would imagine.

There are several English clubs that follow the Scottish scene closely...but I do get the feeling that one or two of Tommy W's scouts are Scotland specialists

Shankland....
Sounds like a great name for a low-cost butcher shop....

Shrewsbury fans seem to think it's them and he's the replacement for Payne.

Well, if we do have a Scottish link now and he is a possibility then his record, according to Wikipedia, is pretty impressive. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lawrence_Shankland28 goals in 31 appearances for Ayr United

DC wants 2 strikers why don't we pounce on both Payne and this lad. Come on the board live a little.

If it does transpire that Payne comes to us, and this lad to Shrews, then in many ways that would be a shame with our past record of taking unknown gems and developing them rather than throwing money at older players (I know Payne isn't that old - 26/27).

Looks like a good prospect. Would be a bit of a gamble considering the level he's been playing at but I'd personally rather take a punt on him than sign Payne. Still young and clearly improving. His goal record for Aye is superb, 38 goals from 38 games and already scored 2 in Scottish Championship in their first game of the season on Saturday.

Shankland Payne. That sounds like an awesome rap name and front two, would terrify defenders. I'm in.

How can you write off someone you've never seen play. I would like DC to sign both if it is us in for him too.

It would be an hell of gamble to rely upon two ex Scotland Championship players plus Nichols to score goals this season!

As you can see in the picture below, I follow both teams. Mainly Ayr United as that's where I am from. Anyways as soon as I seen Ayr United had rejected a bid from an English club for Lawrence Shankland I said to my dad it will be either Bristol Rovers or Salford City. Lawrence Shankland's scoring record at Ayr United has been amazing, 38 goals in 38 games. 9 goals in 5 games already this season which have included two hat tricks. One of the games he scored a hat trick he was substituted 5 minutes into the second half to rest him for the next game. He has a great technical ability and such an amazing work rate. Highly recommended! Ayr United definitely won't keep him its only a matter of time before he moves on.

It would be an hell of gamble to rely upon two ex Scotland Championship players plus Nichols to score goals this season! Payne has a few redeeming features and would probably get about 10 goals if played regularly but it doesn't sound like his all round game is that great. Hardly any Shrewsbury fans have a good word to say about him despite ending last season as their top scorer and he hasn't been first choice there since before Christmas. According to them he has no pace, poor technique, wins nothing in the air, can't hold up the ball and misses 4 sitters for every goal he scores.
I'd personally rather take a chance on Shankland who averages a goal a game and accordimng to their fans has superb technical ability and amazing work rate.

@woosh @jbsarls Ayr United played Bristol Rovers in a friendly back in 2003, Bristol Rovers won 5-0. I just developed an interest for Bristol Rovers after that game, loved the away shirt back then and enjoyed watching them play. I got talking to Robin Mark (Van Der Gas), I'm not sure if he is on here or not and kept in contact with him. That season I ended up going to Carlisle and Bristol and the love affair started ever since. madgas Thanks I love the flag, gets a lot of interest at Ayr United and Bristol Rovers games. After singing Gavin Reilly and Michael Kelly, there obviously cast the net wide enough to Scotland. Plus Darrel Clarke looking for two number 9's and probably kind of the money they are looking to spend. Just a guess really! Gavin Reilly gets a good reputation up here. I was actually talking to a friend at the weekend who is a St Mirren fan and he was shocked they let Gavin Reilly go as he believes he could easily have handled the Scottish Premier League. gasforeverman Dundee don't have the money, I would be shocked if they could afford anymore than the 150k that has been rejected.
