I am sure there was a drinking establishment at eastville called the true blue club. Does anyone know where it was? I can remember one by the tote end entrances and a bar in the south stand which had windows facing the pitch. Tried many times to get in but never made it! But were any of these the true blue club or am i just immagining it! Right I can now get back to the new signing theads.

Is it the place that’s still there at the back of the car park? No, I think the true blue club was behind the Tote End in the car park. There was certainly a club there.

There was True Blue Club. My grandad used to go in it in the 60s. I never went in, too young but he went in it and during the week istr. Don’t know where it was just my G talking about it. UTG!

In the 60s the SC under the chairman Eric Godfrey fell out with the football club in a major way and the dispute lasted for many years I think. I don’t know the full reasons but suspect it was over money and use of the ground. Don’t know if the True Blue was the SC or the actual club. UTG!

The True Blue Club was behind the Tote - we used to go there on a Sunday night for the cabaret. The Eastville Club was and still is at the back of the old car park. And best of all was the Dog House Disco in the North stand.

The rift between the Football Club and the Supporters Club was major and was reported at length by the Evening Post for several years. The True Blue became the official Supporters Club and it's very name must have been a huge insult to the original Supporters Club which had provided significant amounts of money to the FC - bitter times.

Until Eric Godfrey was invited onto the Rovers Board. And the SC paid for the North Stand.

Believe I was there on opening night. 1964? Tommy Trinder was top of the bill and Dave an'Ade ( a drag duo of which I was part) were part of the supporting acts. Cannot find any photos to corroborate that. But it was a night I shall never forget.

I often saw him in the lounge bar at the Merchants Arms before a game having a Guinness.
