At the final whistle against Mansfield on that fateful day I genuinely thought that it was the end of us, I really did. I still remember it like it was yesterday , it was also the first time that I had cried over anything football related. Look where we are today ! Dc and the boys that got us promoted at the first time of asking will always be real heroes in my eyes , whilst it was embarrassing being in that league , I had never enjoyed watching the gas as much and I think that team also gave us something to be forever proud of. As sh** as it can be at times , I always stop and think that it could of all been a lot worse !! I’m not a happy clapper , I just really appreciate where we are now and what could of been ! UTG !!! Best post I have read in ages. Used to live in Stockport and how they would love to be us today!

What's everyones best DC XI?
(Ignore opposition and imagine they are at all playing for us as best they could)

My low point was away at Braintree, still got that anniversary to look forward to! That was probably the lowest of the low. Didn't go to Braintree but Altrincham was hardly a barrel of laughs either. People trying to board the team bus in a rage. Beard got sent off I think. We travelled up on the day of the game too and the traffic was so bad I think the team barely had time to warm up. Thankfully we went back to staying overnight before away games after that.

My low point was away at Braintree, still got that anniversary to look forward to! That WAS the worst but the stainless steel terraces at Nuneaton in the fog,the dreadful performance at Altrincham when the team were nearly late and they had a player who couldn't get time off work and the Dickensian surroundings at Alfreton were the stuff of nightmares. I thought I'd get frostbite my feet were so cold!

Think there must be a better goalie, Puddy always made me smile

The conference season gave me some of my happiest times watching Rovers. So many brilliant away games. Gateshead with a late Ellis winner sending us top was a great day. Kidderminster was probably the best away day I’ve had. Twice as many gasheads as home fans and a superb second half performance. On the flip side, Altrincham away was by far the worst performance I’ve seen. I thought at that point that we had every chance of another relegation!

We ought to have some sort of badge we can wear to show that we survived that. To remind the moaners that things were so much worse than having to pay £4 for a sausage roll, that a stand is going to be 2 weeks late, that they might have to stand in line for 20mins to pick up their season ticket, that we haven't spent £30 squillion quid on players in the off season.

Possibly Partington RB but the rest pick themselves. UTG!

I did. Finally had the badge tattoo the summer we were relegated to the Conference, so glad I did because to have one now would clearly make you a glory hunter !
