We opened the Conference season Vs Grimsby Town.
Just saying...
I'm as frustrated as many of you are (especially for trg facilities, my big bugbear) but could be so much worse.
Most of us felt the summer transfer business was pretty good, and the club had already tied up players they wanted to keep before Easter last season.
EH put a spanner on the works but I think today has pulled it back to acceptable.

Wes we opened up with Grimsby and also finished against grimsby any odds on finishing against Peterborough this time around at Wembley

A big thank you to all those who helped get us back up (yes, that does include him).
With fewer players who remember that season and fewer still who were part of the relegated team, I hope we can somehow retain that collective memory and keep us defiant yet humble whatever our future holds.

A nice post to put things into perspective. The rubbish people are moaning about at the moment just need to remember those dark days! It could be / was so much worse! I am sure there where a lot less meltdowns back then too!

My low point was away at Braintree, still got that anniversary to look forward to! That was probably the lowest of the low.

After watching since the mid-60s I can honestly say that was one of my favourite seasons if you could ignore the non league part of it! Enjoyed most of it, obviously not Braintree but all of it afterwards. Walked out of Eastleigh at the end of September convinced we would be promoted and was able to enjoy the rest of the season. UTG!

Remember watching that and just thinking how awful it was. Glad we got better as the season went on but that was a depressing game to watch.

My low point was away at Braintree, still got that anniversary to look forward to! Mine too. Two nil defeat. Lack of effort. Terrible behaviour by a minority of Rovers fans. I drove home in despair and vowed I'd never let football upset me again. Ironically it was my 60th birthday weekend - what a 'treat' - and 49 years since I had first watched Rovers on my 11th birthday. Each time I am vaguely tempted to moan, I remember that day.

Didn't miss a match during our Conference season. Those first few games were definitely the low point in my 30+ years supporting the Gas. Goalless draw at home to Grimsby but followed by 1 point from 4 away games including defeats to Barnet, Altrinchan and Braintree.
We've come a long way since then but there are still a few survivors from that season. Leadbitter, Lockyer, O.Clarke, Sinclair and Lines, who joined in March. Would have been at least 3 more had Taylor, Brown and Harrison not decided to move on.

My low point was away at Braintree, still got that anniversary to look forward to! That WAS the worst but the stainless steel terraces at Nuneaton in the fog,the dreadful performance at Altrincham when the team were nearly late and they had a player who couldn't get time off work and the Dickensian surroundings at Alfreton were the stuff of nightmares.

At the final whistle against Mansfield on that fateful day I genuinely thought that it was the end of us, I really did. I still remember it like it was yesterday , it was also the first time that I had cried over anything football related. Look where we are today ! Dc and the boys that got us promoted at the first time of asking will always be real heroes in my eyes , whilst it was embarrassing being in that league , I had never enjoyed watching the gas as much and I think that team also gave us something to be forever proud of. As sh** as it can be at times , I always stop and think that it could of all been a lot worse !! I’m not a happy clapper , I just really appreciate where we are now and what could of been ! UTG !!!
