You said "he (meaning I) has not said that it would be built by the present custodians". That is perfectly clear from Waels interview - "no more investment" The training ground will need a few million spent on it, where is that coming from yet alone building a new stadium or even modernising The Mem. Yes, the bar has been improved, I applaud that, but BRFC received a considerable contribution from the Brewers etc. as they should if they want to sell their beer there. Right if Wael is not building the UWE then who is? And can you expand on when the good news is being announced? Because you said maybe Saturday.Really, can you point me to where I said that, because even I do not know when anything may/will be announced. Why don't you ask Wael?

Ok, here we go ....... saturday a sports journalist of some standing told me he had been hearing the family are selling their share to a consortium possibly of Chinese origin who would build the UWE and Training ground and Wael would keep a 10% share.
Now this might be wide of the mark but for me it pretty much aligns itself with the comments on the interview and why he pulled out of the vets game.
I would be interested if one of the Ciders or perhaps Knowall could dismiss this completely ?

We end up being just the plaything of a real estate tycoon who probably hardly knows where Bristol is. The price of "progress" I guess.

I agree totally. But then the same people will rant when people like Keith Brookman get left behind in the slip stream. From a personal point of view I don't think foreign ownership is sustainable either as it is open to massive fluctuations in their core markets (if anyone believes the current real estate and debt bubble in China is not a clear and present danger then...) and the ever increasing media rights is not infinite. That too will come crashing down in value as competitors drop out, as BT have done.

Or...someone is getting 'Chinese' mixed up with 'Malaysian'.......YTL, the company that own Wessex Water, the Bath Hotel & Spa, and the ones behind the building of the Bristol Arena at Filton?
They seem to like it in the Bristol area?

As I was walking out the ground after Saturday's game I heard more than one group of blokes discussing virtually the same thing. Wael selling up, consortium coming in, new ground, the Al Qadi's wanted their "premium" on the sale etc. No idea if it's true or not but it was definitely getting around on Saturday. I guess it would explain why there's no movement on the training ground, why Wael might not be sure if Hani is still on board, and why there are so many confidentiality agreements in place. It's all a mystery. We should have our own X-files thread for this.
